“I’m not a hostage!” Charles yelps.
Natasha takes the phone away. “He’s not getting out of this,” she says into the receiver before hanging up.
“Terrific,” Charles says acerbically. “You’ve just ensured that Erik is going to tear apart Manhattan looking for me.”
She just shrugs. “If you’re important to him, he won’t rest until he’s laid eyes on you anyway. He may as well come.”

“Doesn’t it ever get tiring,” Harvey says eventually, scrubbing his hand back through his hair and then letting his arms fall back down by his sides, “being so far ahead of everyone else all the damn time?”
“Yes, excruciatingly so,” Mike answers automatically, before he can even begin to wonder why Harvey’s asking.
But then Harvey is crossing the room in three strides and pulling Mike up off the couch, dragging Mike right up against him and kissing him like every single moment of their relationship to date has been a struggle not to do this.

He picks up the second joint from where it's lying next to his sandwich plate and casts around for the lighter. They have lost and found it about five times already. Harvey holds it up and snaps it open elegantly, so Mike leans forward and lets him light the smoke.
"You're a gentleman," he says. Harvey grins. The warmth -- for Harvey, who saved him, and who is here now doing this for whatever reason -- the warmth spreads. Mike knows the gut-punch of affection is the pot talking, but at the moment he doesn't care.

Harvey was standing behind the armchair Mike was sitting in. Slowly, Mike leaned until he felt Harvey's knuckles against the back of his shoulder. Harvey didn't move them away. It would have been invisible to anyone else in the room, but he moved his knuckles back and forth once, a silent check-in and, for him, a surprisingly intimate gesture.

Mike snapped to attention. "Hm?"
"Earlier. Have you considered that you were right the first time?"
"That… you're layering secrets until our lives are so disgustingly dark and intertwined that I couldn't leave if I tried?"
"Yeah."

The thing is, being stuck in this house when he’s loving-thinking-feeling-being everything for a guy who shuts doors in his face—it’s just a little too much like being ten years old again for Tony’s liking.

"Trust me, in comparison to Tony, you're doing just fine. At least you haven't given yourself cancer."
"It was one tiny melanoma, and it was benign!" Tony interrupts, nettled. It probably wasn't even because of the radiation. Probably. He pushes the elevator button with more force than is strictly necessary.
