Merlin wasn’t familiar with him in the way he was with Auntie Ambrosia, or had known him as long as the boys at the market, but Frik had been nothing but patient and mild to Merlin- if a little pestersome about lessons. He had also been the only person Merlin had truly interacted with since he had arrived at this awful place, and was the only source of silliness and cheer he had gotten in the long, long months.
Out of anyone here, Merlin could easily say that he liked Frik the most.
And Frik didn’t deserve that.
