“You know,” Dick starts, unable to avoid the conversation any longer. “That this is your last little heat.”
“I do.” Damian confirms. “This one was four days. The next one will not be shorter.” It’s so matter of fact, so utterly unbothered that it bothers Dick. He shouldn’t—can’t—let it bother him, but it’s hard to deny the unpleasant emotions swirling in his stomach with everything so close to the surface and Damian keeping it there with his lips on Dick’s mating gland.
Stamping down the green eyed monster he harbours behind his ribs, Dick continues. “So you’re ready to select an alpha for your first full heat?”
Damian picks his head up finally to scowl at Dick. “I will not be spending my heat with an alpha.”

Dick is supposed to be ready to pass on the torch of taking care of Damian’s heats to his future alpha. Damian disagrees.

Jason’s laugh is a sound that curls up in Damian’s chest and takes residence there, warming him in a way entirely unique to his arousal. Richard’s praises are not sparing. They’re not doled out in piecemeal rations as his father’s are.
His praise is a feast, given freely to those who would partake. Each good job and amazing soaks into Damian’s flesh and buries itself a home in between the curves of his rib cage.
He admires Richard for his skill, for his talents and kindness. For his brutality when pushed against the wall. He admires his beauty and how much an honor it is to transcribe it to paper in whatever medium he can get his hands on. He likes the spark of mischief that lights behind his eyes right before telling another asinine joke. Sometimes, Damian doesn’t even mind the jokes.
Sometimes, he wishes he were allowed to be more forthcoming. But his own words stick, tacky as tree sap at the back of his throat.

Dick throws a hand over his eyes, remembering the conversation. Damian had looked up at him with those wide green eyes, still in a too-young face.
"Kids his age— he obviously can't feed on them. It's not right. And anyone older who'd sleep with him… they'd be a creep. The kind of person who we should be arresting and tossing in a hole, not someone who should touch him."
Having to take care of a baby incubus is no joke. Dick's fed Damian indirectly for years at this point— and sure, his friends have some reservations about fucking when they're separated from his kid brother by a wall, and yes, an incubus aura may be addictive to most humans— but Dick isn't like most humans, and he definitely isn't a creep.
He just doesn't want Damian to go hungry, that's all.
