Yue was startled enough at his request that his wings almost came out of their own accord. Normally, indoors, he kept them close, concealed even in his own form, a habit from having to hide for so long. At first it had been due to the small quarters of Touya’s room. But they were at Yukito’s dwelling now, with plenty of space and an entire courtyard. There was no reason for Yue to deny Touya’s request, other than the sense that in acquiescing, he might slide even further into giving him anything he asked for, just for that sense of a warm glow in his chest, for the sight of that soft smile that no one else got to see.

Matsukawa hums thoughtfully. “You know, I’m probably not the best person to give advice about relationships, but I’m sure your man’s going to be just fine. Scary-looking as you are, Iwaizumi, I get the feeling that you’re a pretty good husband.”
Iwaizumi isn’t sure what that’s supposed to mean, but it sounds like a compliment. “Um. Thanks?”
Matsukawa’s lips stretch into a thin, but not insincere smile. “You’re welcome. Look, you trust this guy of yours, right?”
The answer comes easily. “I trust him with my life.”
“See? There you go—”
But Iwaizumi isn’t done, and he continues, talking over Matsukawa. “Just not with his own.”
Doctor Iwaizumi Hajime's life has been going so well, it only makes sense that there'd be complications to follow. If only his husband would tell him what those complications are, he'd be able to fix things.

“You’re being ridiculous,” Hajime complained. “No need to be so defensive. I’ve missed you too.”

He has, however, sent Iwaizumi tickets for the 2024 Los Angeles Summer Games.
“So go,” says Matsukawa's voice. “It’s only a few weeks. You’ve got a whole city to hide in if it gets awkward, and if it doesn’t get awkward, well…”
It’s like watching the future reconfigure, like being in high school again, watching team after team fall to Oikawa’s faultless planning and shameless charm.
“I’ll get to watch a whole lot of volleyball,” Hajime says, and resigns himself to fate and/or Oikawa Tooru.
“Hey, when you get there, can you bag a gymnast for me?” Hanamaki asks, and Matsukawa squawks.

‘Are you in love with me?’ it reads, Oikawa taunts, and Iwaizumi can only find the whole thing a pointless exercise in the usual flirtations.

“Am I heavy, Iwa-chan?” Tooru smiled, though his knees ached. Hajime’s hair smelled of dirt and his neck of water from the stream he splashed himself with moments ago.
“The heaviest,” Iwa-chan said.
Tooru hummed and his hands around Hajime’s neck clung harder. At that moment, he was so filled with happiness that it came as no surprise he was so heavy.

As you might have noticed, I have also placed a pot of flowers next to your doorstep as a housewarming gift. It is a rue plant, traditionally meant to symbolise ‘regret’. I have expended great effort to procure this plant for you, as this is not a common flower you can find in your neighbourhood florist. The symbolism is entirely intentional.
