Huge beasts many times the size of the big blue whale slumbering in the depths of the ocean, whose snores sent tidal waves swamping the shores of the archipelago from half a world away.
But never in all his life had Izuku seen or heard of a dragon that could turn into a boy. Especially not one who looked like that.

Baffled wasn’t a big enough word. Shocked wasn’t quite right, either. It was more the, what on earth? feeling you might get if a lion suddenly wandered into a grocery store. Izuku rubbed his eyes.
“Kacchan! It is you! What are you doing down there? Oh my goodness, are you stealing pills?!”

He finds out as the lights in his room flicker on, yellow lamp light illuminating a pair of long, pale legs trailing up to a green, softly shining tail, and a familiar head hiding behind the coiled scales. Someone has taken the time to wind a large red ribbon around and through the legs, tied with a big bow right where—and Caelus realizes why Himeko told him to have fun.
“Happy birthday to me,” Caelus whispers, awed. He takes one step, then another, until he’s standing at the foot of the bed, drinking in the lithe sweep of Dan Heng’s back, the red criss-crossing his skin. “So you’re my present?”
