Max clears her throat and he startles awake, looking around sheepishly before eventually glancing over at her. “What do you think?”
He opens his mouth and then closes it again, struck speechless. She grins and for all of two seconds, she thinks that Lucas Sinclair has finally learned some fucking manners and proper respect.
“I don’t think pink is your color,” he says flatly and she flings a coat hanger straight at his face.
“This relationship was a mistake,” she replies.Five times Max dumped Lucas and five times he won her back.

“Why?” Charles asked, suddenly defensive. “We’re not scary.”
“She just… doesn’t really do the whole family thing. I think her home life’s kinda messed up.”
Charles froze and looked at Sue.
Charles blinked. “Wait, wait, wait. She?”
Lucas’ hand was already on the door, one foot out. “Yeah. Gotta go!”
