His gaze returned to the mountain of trash bags. It was a monument to his life: piled up, rotting, ignored, and uselessly stinking up the place. He’d treated his existence like a hand of cards he was waiting to fold.

It’s not that he wanted to leave his friend behind. The only thing that crossed his mind when they told him he was expelled was that Kirara would be without him.
She was strong though, she would make it out. He would bet on her every time. And maybe it was for the best, she’d no longer be marked with the title of being his friend.
“Go back inside,” he demanded. There was no kindness in his words.
“Fuck that and fuck this place.” She shook her head, crossing her arms in front of her. The sunset lowered, her purple eyes soaking up the pinks and orange from the sky.
“Kirara, you are too fucking smart and have too much potential. Go back, don’t ruin your life.”
“I’m not doing this without you, Kin. Any of it.”

Tenna looked at Spamton, feeling smaller than usual. Where he was sat, he could make direct eye contact without either of them having to break their necks like usual, yet Spamton was just looking at him half-exasperated, half something Tenna couldn't truly place down. He felt the deep gash in his screen, feeling the dead pixels forming by the minute, how his face lit up in multicolour.
Spamton was right, though. It was meant to be a joke that just... didn't pan out the way it was meant to. He forced a wonky smile, and ignored the gnawing aching in his chest as he stood up, ready to start the show.
