Summary
Rudo wished he stayed in bed today.
Suffering from a horrible headache Rudo manages to still get dragged out of his room and onto a mission by none other than his mentor and teacher, Zanka. The prick had a way of making him actually want to learn something, a skill truly necessary when dealing with teenagers, especially one such as Rudo.
Loading into the company van team Akuta gets to hear about supposedly smart trash beasts, unknowing of what lay in wait and unsuspecting of the grousome injury one of them was about to suffer.
OR:
Rudo gets horribly injured on a job, is a little spitefull shit about it, and realises that maybe Zanka isn't all that bad of a guy.OR, OR:

Summary
Rudo’s left in an awfully heavy dissociative daze after hours of tinkering in his room that settles him well into the deep night.
Only when he realizes it’s late and he should head to bed, he doesn’t realize what he’s done and why he’s in his too white bathroom with a lot of red swirling in his vision.

Summary
‘You do know what happened to him, though, don’t you?’ Enjin said, tightening his jaw. ‘You just don’t wanna say it.’
Eishia blew a strand of hair from her face. She fixed down her dress, visibly unnerved from the accusation. Then, she inhaled a short breath and turned to face him properly.
‘I do know,’ she murmured. Her eyes, usually so bright in their pink, seemed haunted, derelict, and bewildered all at once. ‘He got hurt, Enjin. Really, really bad.’
Enjin narrowed his eyes. ‘How bad, Eishia?’
She nibbled her lower lip, desperate for an escape from the conversation, but Enjin was through with the damn enigma of it all. Even so, he knew he was being too forward.
Perhaps in place for someone else that wasn’t there to do it.
Eishia dropped her head. ‘Down there, bad.’
And there it was.
Rudo was, in fact, an anomaly. He was capable, defiant, brave, empathetic, often blinded by his own rage - but most of all, a child.
And there would always come a time when the Ground, and the things in it, got too big - even for him.
This, was one of those times.

Enjin doesn't like pups, not at all. They're loud, whiny, and needy. So why does he keep stumbling across them? The better question is: why does he keep bringing them home? Gris is both amused and slightly...concerned everytime Enjin leaves by himself.

Zanka has to grapple with what price he's willing to pay to bring Rudo home. If he's honest, he's willing to pay any damn price his siblings ask for to keep that little runt safe. Keeping tight lipped on what his plans are, he decides his team don't need to know just how much it's going to cost him. They just need to know he'll get Rudo out of there. No matter what.

He scrunched his nose, a small confused sniffle, and repeated the word to make sure. “Dad?”

Enjin was not, had never been, and would likely never be a dad - regardless of the fact that he legally had kids. Except .. it just so happened that when one of those kids lost himself to a headspace smaller than usual, Enjin sort of did become a dad. That was okay, he could be a dad sometimes. Summary
The embarrassment and surprise of the whole ordeal shocks Rudo into some clarity. That weird, fuzzy, small feeling fades. And as he straightens up and the movie resumes, he stews on how he was feeling before. Rudo was definitely acting…odd, right? Cuddling with your…coworkers(?) is probably not a normal thing, even in a place as weird as the ground. And why was he feeling so weird? If Enjin and Gris knew all what he was experiencing, they’d probably be creeped out. He can most likely pass it off as being tired or something though, so it was just embarrassing.
These people didn’t want that kind of thing from Rudo. He needed to be a strong fighter–a protector! They didn’t want him soft or small or whatever. The only person who ever would is Regto and he’s…
Rudo can’t quite shake off his tension for the rest of the night, and the movie doesn’t seem as magical as before. He tenses consciously, feeling like a coiled spring, and resolves to be careful and not to let the weird, ‘small’ feeling happen again.
…It fucking happens again.

Done. Finished. No reason to go back.
Despite these thoughts, Zanka will go back. It’s not for anything in particular. Not even a gut feeling. It’s simply an impulse that he can’t shake. Maybe, possibly, a feeling not entirely dissimilar to guilt.
And he’s probably imagining it, but from where his hands grip his bō, a warmth travels through his perpetually frozen fingers and seeps into his bones and blood, slowly melting up his arms and settling like what he thinks a hug would feel like around his shoulders.
It feels like a reassurance.
That was, technically, the first night Zanka (and Aibō) met Rudo. It depends on who you ask.

‘Get lost – NO!’ Rudo roared again, eyes flashing in a terrorised, overwrought outrage. Then he ripped the table lamp from his bedside locker and angled it threateningly above his head.
His voice hobbled over as he spoke, caught in a thick hook of swamped tears and mucus. ‘You’re NOT –’ he sniffed, hard; it sounded burnt-out and hurt. ‘–You’re not doing the breathing thing! That’s Regto’s thing!’
Enjin bowed his face and inhaled sharply.
Then he took a good, long look at him. ‘So that’s what this is about.’

Reki shivered, debating for the millionth time if this was a good idea or not. Honestly, he didn’t want to do this, but his back felt like it was against the wall. He wiped his mouth off and knocked, leaning into the doorframe. It was late, but he could still see the lights on. He shivers, trying to force himself to smile, but he can only manage a grimace as Joe opens the door.
“Too late to get some dinner?” Reki asked, trying to joke.
Before Joe could even think through what he was seeing, Reki collapsed in the doorway of Sia La Luce. Whatever doubts he had, it was too late to turn back now.
