“Obviously, I would!” Eddie was whisper-yelling now, and Buck wasn’t sure exactly what point he was trying to make, but he was enjoying every second of this. “But one of us is going to have to have restraint and it has to be the—the one with the most experience.”
Buck felt his mouth drop open in delight. “Eddie,” he admonished. “Are you calling me a whore?”
“No!” said Eddie, looking increasingly flustered. “I just mean—clearly you have the power to do—” he gestured at Buck, “that, so you have the—the responsibility to, like, use it. Responsibly.”
“Did you just quote Spiderman?”
Eddie propped his elbows on the table and dropped his head into his hands, groaning dramatically. “I’m going to die. The first date, and I’m going to die.”
“Been there, wouldn’t recommend it.”

Summary
Jee thrusts the card out towards Eddie. “For you,” she says, cheeks dimpling as her smile turns shy.
It reminds Eddie so much of Christopher, when he was this age. So sweet, so earnest. His heart squeezes in his chest as he accepts Jee’s card.
And— it is just about the cutest fucking thing Eddie’s ever seen, honestly.
The card, clearly handmade, is shaped like a bumblebee. A yellow teardrop body, striped with crooked lines of black marker. Its head is shaped like a heart, with two pipe cleaner antennae sticking out, and this teeny tiny u-shaped smile and a pair of googly eyes glued to make up its face. The kicker, though, are the wings — two big, slightly misshapen pink hearts (clearly cut out by Jee-Yun herself) protruding from either side, each with a little message scribbled out in Jee’s loopy handwriting. The one on the left reads “BEE mine” and a grin breaks out across Eddie’s face, an amused chuckle slipping past his lips. The one on the right, though — it brings an embarrassing lump to Eddie’s throat as he reads, “Happy Valentine’s Day Uncle Eddie!”

Summary
In the flashing red lights and chaos of arriving refugees, Eddie loses sight of everything else happening around him. Amplified by the adrenaline coursing throughout his blood stream, every fiber he has is focused on the child in his arms. His child, his brilliant, beautiful, remarkably dry son. Eddie does the only thing that makes sense, follows his basic instinct to carry the kid to safety.
“Daddy,” a tiny voice brings him back. “Where’s Buck?”
Eddie lost track of him when the others grabbed him. One minute, Buck was in front of him, falling to pieces and taking Eddie apart with him. The next, Eddie was staring across the tarmac at him, watching him collapse as his knees buckled. Bobby and the others ran up out of nowhere to catch him in time, no doubt just as surprised to see him as Eddie was.
“Dad, I saw him go into the water. You have to find him.”

The glass was impossible for Peter to break, but he could still hear through it. He could even kind of hear the voice coming through the comm device in the guy’s ear.
“Buck? Talk to me.”
Peter recognized that voice, but his brain was too fuzzy to pinpoint it. The tests that the scientists had put him through hadn’t been too horrible so far, but the constant triggering of his Spidey sense had overloaded all his heightened senses. It was hard to retain anything through the migraine, as if words were pouring around the sides of his brain and sliding off.
“It’s a kid.”

"It's on a dry erase board!" Chim protests. So far, all he's written on the board is Ways to Deal with Capt Gerrasshole, and then 1. Murder? below it. "And I put a question mark. So even if I didn't erase it, the jury would never convict. A question mark introduces reasonable doubt."
Maddie rolls her eyes with a fond smile. "I assume there would be other evidence."
"I would never be so sloppy."
"Again, this would be more convincing if you hadn't immediately written murder right at the top of your list."

Walking at night around the Mojave was one of the closest things Maverick had to a supernatural experience with his feet on the ground. There was the ever-present edge of potential danger presented by his solitude in raw nature in the dark of night. And it was just enough of an edge to make the quiet more rejuvenating and the stars all that more brilliant above him. When sleep alluded him or betrayed him into memories or equally-as-horrific possibilities, Mav padded around the sand and let his loneliness and his smallness be comforted by a universe that was bigger even than the shrapnel still lodged in his heart.
Having a bunch of young aviators surrounding his bed in sickbay, squabbling over petty nothings, watching Mav fall asleep as the meds took him, was... It was embarrassing. It was heart-warming. It was...
It wasn’t walking outside in the Mojave, but Mav thought maybe it was time to trade in the lonely desert nights for something better.
Bradley and Maverick have that talk. After another series of events, including ballroom dancing lessons and a group movie night in the Mojave and a revelation or several.
