Summary
Recalling how his grandmother would perform the bonding ceremony ritual, Takeru brings out of storage three antique ceramic cups in three sizes, and finds a suitable bottle of sake in the cellar.
Takeru has cried a lot these past few years. It’s nice to shed some tears for a happy occasion for once. He sniffs with a respectful chuckle, wiping away the tears with his sleeve. “Sorry for my clumsiness, Obaa. I wish you could have been here to do this for us.”
Ryoken and Yusaku rub Takeru’s arms reassuringly, but Ryoken’s lash line is shimmering with emotion and Yusaku is trembling.

"It's not that it's painful," Yusaku said softly, dangling his hands over the railing. "I just don't know where to begin."
"How about at the beginning?" Takeru suggested, placing his hand on Yusaku's arm. "I want to hear all of it."
Written for the 2023 VRAINS Armada Valentines Day event. I took the "aging together" prompt and turned it into a group friendship story because Yusaku needs to be reminded that he's always loved.
