"What?" Robert exclaimed, panicking as he wondered how Sonar knew--was he that obvious? Was there gossip around the office about how hot and bothered Robert couldn't help but get whenever he laid eyes on Water Boy? He needed to kill himself, and he needed to do it quickly.
"The twink you just crushed in your hand," Sonar replied flatly. "Are you gonna eat that?"

It had been four years since then. For the first two years, Wade had kept looking for him, asking around New York and pleading with anyone for any ounce of information. He had to have killed thousands of people who even hinted at knowing where Spider-Man was but could never get a straightforward answer. Not even the Avengers knew, and their search lasted only two years before they disbanded, leaving the city to new heroes and rampant anti-heroes like Deadpool.
He wasn’t coming back, and that was something that Wade had to accept.

That's how Ryan finds himself, thirty minutes later, standing, stagnant, in front of his closet: his inability to conjure anything but pettiness when he feels excluded. He thinks about forgetting the entire conversation and just crawling into his bed, but when he gets a text from Sara that says, "u know u don't wanna go. stop being angry w me n just stay home, ry," he has the urge to just go against all of his morals. Sure, he doesn't particularly enjoy parties and gets major anxiety in the presence of higher divisions, but he would just have to brush that feeling off of his shoulders.
