Roy knows. "I know," he says. "There are four more laps to go."
The China circuit hates him; he is quite sure of it. DRS issues on the final laps while he is desperately fighting for the sweetness of a podium. Last year was the stupid engine — DNF.
"Then hold the fuck on."
"Not helping," Roy snaps. "Do something useful instead of just telling me things I already know."
"It's my job to tell you the issues we're having."
Four more laps. Four. He can do it. This set of soft tires is almost gone. The brakes feel weird. The DRS is fucked. He can do it. Four.
"Edward," he says like it's a curse. "Just shut up and let me drive."
Or the fic in which Roy is a four-time World Champion Formula 1 driver, Edward is a prodigy and his race engineer, their team sucks and they fuck about it. That's it.

Summary
In Roy's perception, there is a clear line between respect and deference. Thus, when he walks into Lieutenant General Frueder's office, he does so with his chin raised high and an expression of soft, almost bland acceptance. Sometimes, acting like a mixture of cocksure asshole and meek soldier can take him to great lengths. Besides, he doesn't have it in him to care much about Frueder's complaints—she has many of those, and it would bore Roy to death if he had to keep them in mind.
Plus, he has a headache. He hasn't drunk enough coffee to deal with this today.
Summoned effective immediately, incapable of escaping it, Roy enters the room with sure steps.

Summary
They grew up holding hands and hugging and sharing beds because that is what they do. It is exactly what they both want and their parents might have once thought it odd, but by now they call them "very close" and move on with their lives like it's nothing. It's not nothing, Obi-Wan knows. They aren't just close, that's almost an insult to the depth of their connection. But then again, their parents can't know.

Summary
The first few weeks went on without a hitch. Obi-Wan was an unusually calm alpha, and Anakin's scent all over the house was more familiar than anything — they would work it out, Obi-Wan thought, and convinced himself that no issues would pop up.
