"My name's Dream," Dream says with too much enthusiasm for the boy's liking. Dream's smile beams down on him and for some reason his excitement is what coaxes the boy to answer.
"I'm George," the boy-George-says, voice very hesitant. He fiddles with one of his backpack straps, most likely waiting for Dream to start talking again which Dream thankfully understands.

Dream had been fifteen when he got his first girlfriend.
He remembers that her hair was long and pretty and red, and that her eyes had sparkled, and that she had just a few more freckles than him. He remembers thinking she was the prettiest girl in the world.
He remembers that the first time he told his dad about her, he'd been lectured for saying he loved her. He'd been told love was something conditional, something you had to earn and certainly not something to give out to the girl you sat next to in chemistry class. He remembers feeling guilty for wanting to say he still did.
Dream was seventeen when he fell for George.

Summary
The fire crackled and crickets chirped as Dream turned onto his side, unable to tear his eyes away. He looked so peaceful. He looked so, so perfect. The sound of George’s soft breathing was music to Dream’s ears. Dream could hardly breathe himself, as if the wind was knocked right out of him. He was blown away by the beauty, breathlessly lying in the grass, desperately head-over-heels.
Suddenly, George’s head slowly shifted, his body stirring under Dream’s gaze. Dream’s heart beat rapidly, knowing that he should turn away. That he needed to. He is not mine to look at like that, he reminded himself. But he didn’t look away. He couldn’t.
George gently flickered open his eyes, blinking several times and looking around him before locking eyes with Dream. And time stopped all over again.

The bright LED’s of the PC leaves a harsh and bright burn behind his eyes, the tips of his fingers feel numb with the inscentant tapping from the result of his never ending gaming. The block world of a random Minecraft seed generates as he finally loads up his stream. The late night almost early morning stream still warrants over fifty thousand viewers, his first speed running stream since the accusation of cheating fell upon him.
“Hello…” Dream tentatively says, double checking that his stream settings are correct. “There we go. Hello!”

“Okay,” he concedes gently, running his thumb over the freckles scattered across Dream’s face. “I’ll stay.”
Dream’s response is a soft, tired hum, and then his eyes are slipping shut again. George allows himself a soft smile, listening to his quiet breaths. His chest feels fuzzy, warm, adoration threatening to strangle him as he stares upon the sight.
After a moment, he draws his hand away, pulling it back to his side. Dream mumbles groggily, reaches out, and then their hands are pressing warm together as their fingers interlace.
He doesn’t move from his spot, even as his phone buzzes with texts from Sapnap and inquiries from Karl about why he hasn’t come to class. Instead he sits with Dream, and listens to his gentle, steady breaths, all while drowning in the warm affection that’s filling his lungs.
So the fire grows, slowly; steadily, and George does nothing but burn.
