Summary
George sleeps a lot—this is a well-known fact.His friends poke fun at it, the fans joke about it, and his SMP character is even based on his abnormal sleeping habits. Sometimes, the jokes are really clever and raise a chuckle out of him, but most of the time George finds himself slightly annoyed, because it isn't funny—not if you're living with it.
In conclusion, narcolepsy sucks.
Five times George falls asleep on Dream, and one time where it's the other way around

“Yeah, it’s hot.” Dream removes his hand.
“What?” George is embarrassed by how breathy he sounds.
“Your skin, it’s hot where he slapped you. That’s how you know it was hard. Your ear’s all red, too.”
George touches his ear. His cheekbone and jaw are beginning to throb dully, just a low ache that’s synced with his heartbeat. “Oh. Does it look stupid?”
“No, it’s cute.” Dream swallows. “I mean it’s– well– it just looks like you’ve been out in the cold, kind of.”
George doesn’t know what to do with that.
Sapnap slaps George at TwitchCon. Later, George finds himself in Dream’s hotel room, hopelessly in love.

Summary
George finds himself often brushing his fingers over those freckles until he realizes what he’s doing and withdraws entirely. He kind of wants to shove as much distance between them as possible so he can reject the thought that he’s falling.
But he also doesn’t want that, admittedly. The soothing of everything in their busy lives at the placement of being tucked into his friend’s chest, it’s just too good. And if he did want to place a platonic wedge into their closeness, there’d have to be a conversation held.
Because Dream is guilty of pressing close just as much as he is, he can’t one day go stiff at hands pulling at him. He can’t go back to sleeping alone.

Dream turns to look at him, propping his chin up on his hand. “Are you sure it’s not just because my bed has me in it?”
George stares at him for a moment, going slightly pink, then scoffs. “You’re an idiot.”
In which George and Sapnap’s rooms are way too close together, and George remedies this fact in the only way he knows how.

Dream let go of the medicine cabinet entirely, moving to stand between his legs. “Why do you sound surprised?”
Palms on his forearms made it hard to think, the way they kept sliding down to his hands as if drawn there. “I’m not, I just–“ He took a breath, took Dream’s hands in his. “It’s a thank you.”
“Oh.” And Dream looked so pleased, a secret smile threatening the corners of his lips. “Well, you’re welcome.”
George gets terribly sick, and he feels like death, and maybe it’s time he learns that it’s okay to accept help. Especially when it’s from the two people he loves most in the world.

“God,” Dream murmurs, “come here.” And then he’s pulling George close, right into the warmth of his sweater-clad chest, and George goes willingly. “Too far,” Dream says, burying the words into George’s stomach. “Being at the other end of the table was too far—”
“I know,” George says, grasping onto the back of Dream’s sweatshirt and pushing his cheek against Dream’s hair. “I’ll stay next to you tomorrow, ‘kay?” And Dream nuzzles at George’s shirt.
“Please—”
“Not gonna go far,” George whispers. “I promise.”
[Or, Dream’s overwhelmed at TwitchCon and worrying after his first panel, and George holds him close.]

“You are pretty.”
It’s nothing he hasn’t said before, but George falters. Dream feels it in his slackened thighs and the limp hand around his neck.
“You— You’re pretty, too,” he admits, voice sinking. “Is that— Can I say that?"
Everything is better in person (bits and pieces of George's first six months in Florida, as experienced by Dream).

“That’s okay,” Dream says to George, nervously. “You can cry.”
He wishes, somewhere in the back of his head, that he could raise his cheek to George’s cheek and maybe lay trust to his skin. It would not say much, but it would honor a necessity that both of them could carry for days.
It would say this, and only this: you know you’ve got me right here.
In hopes of mending multiple relationships, Dream goes off-grid to a home he hasn't seen in years. He takes his friends with him.

“You’d want to?” Then, “sometimes I do that actually. Patches will get up on my bed and even that is too warm and crowded for me.”
George formed a frown on his face. “I don’t want to crowd you.”
Another pause. George could tell that Dream’s hand had covered his mouth.
Then, very fondly, Dream whispered, “you won’t. I promise you that you won’t.”
Somehow, close was not close enough.

Dream takes those words in his mind. He flips them upside down, turns them inside out, rearranges them until they’re gibberish, but he still doesn’t understand what George meant. You love me, George had said. You love me, you love me, you love me.
You’re my favourite person in the world, Dream wants to tell him. Of course I love you.
For Dream, this summer is composed of three things: unbearable heat, a vlogging camera, and a road trip with George across the United States. Stuck in their van, Dream is finally forced to confront the feelings for George that he's been repressing for years.
It feels like torture.

“I was afraid, I think,” George blinks, eyes directed at the gloomy sight in front of him. “I’ve always hated the things I was afraid of.”
Dream brings his elbow to rest on the sand as he lifts himself up slightly to look at George’s face. “What else are you afraid of?”
George takes a deep breath, tilting his head away from the moon, letting silver dance on sharpened cheekbones. Dream thinks he has cunning ways to find, to be, his weakest spot. “Sometimes, I’m afraid of the things I want.”
Or, getting stood up on a trip to Hawaii by their friends certainly weren’t on Dream and George’s agenda. And neither was falling in love.

George suddenly sat up, his voice faint and slow. "Sap, you're such a lil' bitch. I'm so drunk. Why'd you mix these drinks so fucking strong?"
"Because it's funny," Sapnap giggled.
George huffed, clearly irritated, but then burst out laughing, "wait, you're right, it is funny." And then, full of that 180-degree-tipsy-giddiness, he turned to Dream. "You think it's funny, don't you, you idiot?"
Dream cocked his brow. "It's always hilarious to see you guys make fools of yourselves."
"Make fools of yourselves," George mocked in a whiney-American accent that sounded nothing like him. "Do you ever just shut up?"
Sapnap giggled again. "Dream, dude, George fucked you."
"I did?" George exclaimed, his eyes wide.

Summary
In this brief moment of clarity, George feels a surge of courage rush through him. Before he knows it, the sheets are flung away from his body and he’s out of the room that’s trapped his mind for the past two hours. His feet carry him to his door without a second thought, and the next thing he knows he’s slamming the door behind him, leaning against it, and finally letting out a breath of relief.
Maybe if he guards it, the bad thoughts won’t be able to reach him here. Maybe he can stay awake all night anyway, but by his own merit, so that he can still have his picture-perfect morning of passing out at the breakfast counter.
