Summary
“Sorry!” He shouts over the noise, smiling while Will bluescreens. He’s gorgeous, all big brown eyes and a strong nose and his dark hair curling around his ears, messy and just begging to have fingers run through it. Will feels his fingers itching with the need to draw and paint him over and over again until it sticks, the way he’s never felt when RISD would bring in models for them to paint to practice their details. Will had always been bored when they had those lessons, but now he wishes the school had hired this guy: he would’ve gotten the best grade. “Um, this is yours, right?”
“Yeah! Yeah, sorry.” Will drops his second pen onto his sketchbook, grabbing the other one from him and mentally wincing at the thought of how dirty it must be. Gross. “You here for the band?”
Amusement lights up the guy's eyes. “Yeah, you could say that.” He smirks, looking around for the bartender. She’s helping a group on the other side so it’ll be a minute before he’s noticed. “Are you here for the band?”
or;
will works at a tattoo shop, mike at the bookstore across the street. he's also in a band. you know how this goes.

Summary
Years before joining the 118, Buck’s travels take him to El Paso, where he meets Christopher. When Eddie comes back from Afghanistan and Shannon leaves, Buck ends up staying. As bills pile up, the best move is for them to get married, just for convenience, they’ll divorce when Eddie comes back from his re-enlistment.
Then Eddie gets injured and it’s just easier to stay married for a little longer, while Buck gets started at the 118. However, Buck doesn’t mention his ‘husband’ and kid, not feeling like they’re his to keep. When Eddie gets the offer from Bobby, they decide to lie and pretend they don’t know each other, so they can work together.
The whole lie gets out of hand as feelings start to become real, until it all comes to a head in the aftermath of the fire engine explosion.
AKA: Secret marriage of convenience buddie slow burn AU, where Buck and Eddie have been married for years so Buck could adopt Chris and no one at the 118 knows.

Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
No one knows her name, her age, or anything else about her. She was found on the side of the highway after the bombing of Atlanta, abandoned by her father. She won't talk much, and definitely won't reveal her name. She isn't comfortable around these people. Though the little girl has never met them personally, she knows the Dixon's. Their speech and mannerisms are familiar to her. When she approaches the brother one day asking for a favor, Merle takes interest in the girl. But out of all people in the camp reaching out to her, why is this orphan seeking refuge with the rednecks?

Summary
One bleeds, and cries, and dies, until the heavy echo of the container opens and sunlight floods in. Their heart is a chilling staccato in their chest, buzzing and swelling in their throat - until rough, hardened hands and squinty eyes arrive to hold their pieces together.
They can't sleep - never could, even Before - but sometimes they close their eyes and heat blooms at their side, and they know he's come to rest, too.
or
Someone broken and grieving and so, so alone learns what it means to be whole again. Their sorrow scorches their tear ducts and splinters the streets below, but that's okay. It is - because sweet, honeyed hands are a balm on their rosy cheeks, their bubbled scars. Their torment is wiped away until all they feel are soft, sunny fingers and pillowed palms. They think this must be love. It swells in their chest and clogs in their throat, and they cry again - because they think this feels like home.
A fic about healing and found family, featuring a very sweet and genuine slow burn -all through the eyes of my incredibly fleshed out OC. Slow and steady heals the heart and soothes the soul, as they say.
EDIT 1/7/24: Fixing up chapters 2-5, so they may not flow the best atm.

Bookmarker's Notes
Best OC fanfic I’ve read on here. Interactions between characters feel so real and have found myself grinning like an idiot.
