Ghost hums, a subtle acceptance of what they both know to be true.
The line sparks out into static for a moment, but neither officer interrupts the silence that rings out between them. The quiet filled with words that neither officer would dare speak. Soap lifts his head from the counter, looking at the radio that holds the only link between them with something akin to longing.
It had been difficult when there had been no one else to speak to, when the only response had been the analog emptiness of a dead radio line. Now, the radio has become a lifeline. A reminder that even if he is alone, he is not lonely. Even if the rest of the world has gone, he will always have the man he has come to depend on in more ways than one.
He will always have his Simon.
