Summary
Genya's eyes had widened, the pain on his cheek swells pretty fucking badly and when his fingers touch it; it's the same moment where the tears also fall and Sanemi is breathing heavily, he didn't expect his hand to hit Genya right in the face.
“Genya–”
And Genya already turns his back on him, walking towards his room with a quick speed; he leaves Sanemi staring at the air now. Regret clawing up on him.
Or;
Sanemi has officially fucked up Genya beyond repair and regrets what he's done to his little brother.

To say Sanemi was angry was an understatement; he had been assigned a mission by the Master to hunt down a demon that’s been kidnapping people to a nearby abandoned town. That wasn’t the problem though… The problem was that the Master insisted Sanemi bring Genya along with him.

Summary
This feeling has been lingering with Genya since he woke up, sometimes it is unbearable and sometimes it is barely there. Like if he doesn't hold himself tightly he'll split in half and be back there, lying on the floor with every nerve alight in pain. As if it were not for the density of the air in a stale little room Genya may have never woken up at all.

The small sliver of opened window lets that simple wind wash in, cooling the bitterness surrounding them. “I mean- I just mean… you're so much younger than me.” Genya hates this argument. But he doesn't really have the energy to contest it. “It wasn’t your fault. It's not your job to take all that guilt and just. I don't know. Sit with it.”
“It's not your job either.” Genya sways a little, then puts his hands down and kneels onto the floor with his brother. His voice is watery. “It wasn’t your fault either.”

Summary
After being saved with seconds to spare by Tanjirou, and then watching helplessly from the side-lines as an unrecognizable Sanemi and self-righteous Tanjirou exchanged blows, Genya can't handle seeing the aftermath of someone stupidly leaping into the fray to save him. He can't handle the thought that he even deserved to be saved - he'd been readying himself for years to face Sanemi's retribution for how deeply Genya had hurt him when they lost everything and if blinding him was Sanemi's way of getting even then Genya would accept that completely. He's worthless. Useless. Pathetic. Burdensome. Weak. Stupid. They're all monikers that he deserves - completely and totally.
He leaves the butterfly estate before Tanjirou even regains consciousness - leaves behind the boy who'd saved him because he'd thought it was the right thing in the company of all of the people and friends that adore Tanjirou. Leaves and just keeps walking - deeper and deeper into the forest. Common sense would dictate that he doesn't go anywhere on the off-chance of a demon approaching, but he doesn't care. He doesn't care if a demon hurts him. He just doesn't see any value in his own life - so what does it matter if he just disappears - forever?
