The Warrior of Light and the Lord Speaker both spent countless days labouring to the duties which ever called their attention away. For one slipping moment, between the concurrent events of war which crept on the horizon, they finally have a moment of peace.

Eito smiles, in the exact same way he always did before.
“I’ve never hated you more than this moment,” he says.
Takumi doesn’t let himself think about it any further. He rests the tip of the knife against the side of Eito’s neck, and pushes it in.
(After too many loops, Takumi's cryptoglobin becomes unstable. The best method for treating it is a blood transfusion, and the best option for that, willing or no, is Eito. But sharing cryptoglobin so directly also shares memories, and sharing too much blurs the memories together. As far as Takumi and Eito are concerned, they've known each other since childhood. And the relationship they've suddenly always had isn't a healthy one.)

”Oh, is that ugly Takumi I spy?” came floating to his ears from the cage in the center of the yard, and yeah, of course nothing about this place was going to calm Takumi’s nerves.
”Sure is,” Takumi bit back, learning by now that Eito does this just to get a rise out of him. He’s better off if he doesn’t make a fuss. Takumi made his way over to the cage, examining his target. Eito looked relatively relaxed; he was on his side, laying propped up on one arm with a book laid out beside him. How he didn’t feel sore from reclining on the hard cage floor, Takumi would never understand. “I brought you breakfast.”

Takumi does not enjoy partaking in violent acts, he's the type that would only do it when it's necessary to protect the ones he love.
He did what he had to do.
The person, the thing known as Eito Aotsuki would never give up otherwise, he knows this all too well. He's had a whole war's experience of those actions damning them all to nothing but a hollow victory and nothing but guilt to bring home. Eito had taken everything from him once, and then she did it again, even worse the second time somehow, soaking his own hands in blood with only the sounds of his own screaming and her own ever multiplying laughter in the wake of his, her, their slaughter. She almost took that infuser into his very own soul. But he died. And he came back again, somehow, without drinking Shion's power once more.
He did what he had to do. He did what he had to do.
