Summary
If he was honest, Will would say he’s been imagining this moment for months when he got the all clear and he could actually entertain the idea of a friendship again. If he was honest, he would also say he’d been picturing an impossible future for the first time in years, and the notion of that impossible future was what drove him away in the first place. Realistically, Stella would live a few more years, maybe five, maybe a decade if she got lucky, and he would die of complications well before then. But in his impossible future, they share an apartment, and maybe a dog or a cat. They do treatments together, push each other in physio and take walks holding hands when they can. They go out with their friends and act like normal twenty-year-olds without the thought of death hanging over their heads. In his impossible future, they share an idyllic, normal life.
