He looks at you, dazed and in awe. You get the sense that even if Johnny thought about you like this, he’s never let the image come to life. Resigned to outlines of you that he could only trace with his fingertips. It’s what he’s doing now, drifting the pads of his fingers along your arm. Hairs rising in their wake and you shiver.
“Shut up,” You roll your eyes but it’s not serious, never is around him. “Only gonna be harder if you start getting sappy.”
In all honesty, you kinda had it set that Johnny was a prude. An unknowing tease who left you wanting because of his own hesitancy. Still, in the garish lighting of the bathroom and the tight squeeze of your bodies, something different manifests.

It’s you calling out to him. Brow quirked up and cards splayed flat on the floor, uncaring if someone were to look. You drag your eyes up his frame, slowly and gently. Like you’ve been meaning to catalogue him in your memory. He feels stripped bare underneath it. All your attention is centered on him. It seems like everyone's is in some way.
“Oh, uh, hey there!”
He fidgets a bit. Now everyone expects him to speak. There’s a first for everything.
Johnny thinks you sing too sweetly into the microphone at the Breaker Box. He thinks you must regard yourself as some musical prodigy to be treating him like cornbread that's not done in the middle. He thinks of your avoidant gaze when speaking to him, the moments where you make contact splitting him open. Recently, a lot of Johnny's thoughts are infected with you.

Unlike you. The words go unsaid like many things before. Cabrizzio embraces the implication instead of seeing you for what you are. “That spark was missing, hm?” He’s tracing patterns on any patch of skin that’s available to him, curls trailing up and down on your legs. You concentrate on the haphazard sketches that carry little meaning but tightens this pressure in your chest each time he makes contact again. You don’t know if you’ve edged closer to him or if he lets his hold slip so slightly on the counter but you’re certain he can hear how hard your heart beats.
You come home after a bad date and, luckily, have one cigarette left. Your house conspires against you but at least there's one person who can hear you out.
