“My fondness for you,” Hannibal hesitates for a second. “Does it bother you?”
The tension is so thick Will thinks he could cut it with a knife.
“No,” Will answers and his own honesty surprises him. “No, it doesn’t.”
“I ache for you,” Hannibal confesses and sighs. He puts the dishes back in the sink and turns slowly, watching Will’s raised shoulders and the way he curves his body, tense. “I know you know it, Will. I am just confirming a fact. Does it bother you now?”
Will thinks about standing up and leaving, but realizes he doesn’t want to. He looks down, to his own hands, and feels dizzy because of the alcohol - still dancing in his veins.
“No,” he whispers. Hannibal’s footsteps are calm but loud, showing him he is coming closer.

Hannibal has been feeling uninspired for a few months (and frankly, a little depressed—though he doesn’t admit it to himself). One day he decides on a whim to go into nature and perhaps take inspiration from the beauty around him.

Will's eyes brighten with mirth. He takes another drink of wine, and wets his lips, absently dragging his fingers along the handle of his tankard. "I know your face. You come here often." It's not framed as the classic line, but feels flirtatious nonetheless.
"I do," Hannibal says, nodding. "It's one of the highlights of my year."

“La Belle Dame Sans Merci.” Will recites breathlessly.
Hannibal lets out a pleased hum. “The painting is a rather whimsical rendition of the muse. Keats’ poem depicts a wretched end for the knight where he awakens alone in the field, abandoned by the love of his life, whereas Dicksee’s work focuses on the maiden’s affection and the knight’s surrender to his own heart. Everything he knows and feels, it all changes when he sees her for the first time."
_________________Hannibal leaves his sketchbook in Will's car. He can't stop himself from looking inside, from wanting to know, but he never expected every drawing to be of him.

Will shivered at the word coming out of Hannibal’s mouth, his breath husky from the morning and the overwhelming nature of his wake up call.
The profiler nodded as he waited for his speech to come back to him.
‘The more we can do to make it look like I was here all night, the better.’
Hannibal gently cupped his cheek and guided his head to the right, baring his neck. When he spoke, Will could feel his breath caressing the tendons there.
‘I’d leave more than one.’ Hannibal leaned in, his lips brushing skin as he whispered, ‘If I’d had you all night you’d be covered in more than just them.’
