“Draco,” she sighed, a bit exasperated. It was so odd that he was dancing around the subject now, as blunt as he normally liked to be with her. Without thinking, she reached forward to rest a hand on his forearm, her eyes pleading with him. “Please, just give me a real answer. I need to know.”
He closed his eyes for a moment, as if gathering the strength to have this conversation. When he opened them again, his face had sobered, his mischief gone. All that remained was the kind sincerity she had learned over long years of professional friendship lurked at the core of his very being.
“Because this is something that you want,” he said, his voice soft like he was afraid it would shatter something between them if it were too loud. “And I want you to have everything that you want.”
