“What is your ulterior motive then?” Ilya asked. He wanted to move his hand lower, next to Shane’s body but he held off.
Shand licked his lips, let his gaze roam over Ilya’s body. “No ulterior motive, I want to make you money, I want to do a good job.”
“Mister Businessman.”
“Sure, whatever.”
“You think I’m talented.” It was not a question.
Shane rolled his eyes, “I know you’re talented. I don’t represent untalented people.”
Ilya is a model trying to break into the acting world and Shane is the PR manager trying to help him with his career. "In October of last year, Shane and Ilya became temporary foster parents to one of the students that had participated in the Irina Foundation's hockey camps after he was abandoned by his birth parents for coming out as queer. Since then they have pursued first permanent foster placement and adoption. That adoption was granted and finalized this month. Mac Hollander-Rozanov has been in many pictures that, with his permission, are being re-edited and re-uploaded to remove the emojis that were used to protect his identity in accordance with the government's guidelines."
An additional paragraph added to a photo Ilya and Shane shared to their personal Instagrams:
"Family looks different for everyone, and our family is no different. Mac is our son, and we are so incredibly proud of him and his achievements. We hope that the hockey community will be as respectful of him as they are of other children of players."

But Shane flushes, suddenly hiding his face in the space between Ilya’s shoulder and his neck, huffing against the cold chain of Ilya’s crucifix. He feels embarrassed to admit exactly how much he liked it when Ilya made these comments, that he looked pretty, that he looked like a girl.

This year marks thirteen year Shane Hollander's third summer at Coach Marakov's elite hockey training camp. In attendance for the first time: Ilya Rozanov, visiting from Russia. Shane isn't the most sociable, and Ilya's English isn't the greatest, yet the unlikely duo soon become the best of friends.
It's just one summer, but it makes a world of difference.

The resemblance hit Yuna like a punch to the gut. The same honey-colored curls, though hers were styled in a gorgeous twist at the back of her head. If Yuna could see past all of the times Ilya’s nose had been broken and re-healed, she imagined it would look something like the woman’s in front of her. And those eyes - a mix of hazel and gold with tiny flecks of green if you looked close enough. Ilya must have gotten his strong jaw from his father, because this woman’s features were narrow and sharp. Stunning.
When she smiled, it looked so like Ilya’s that Yuna could have cried.
“Irina,” she said.
“Yuna,” Irina said, bowing her head politely.

Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.
