    “DO I NEED TO TURN THIS CAR AROUND?!”
    Silence reigned for a brief moment. Peter and Wade both seemed shocked into silence. Slowly, Matt could hear both of their heartbeats rapidly begin to speed up.
    “Matt,” Peter said, terror evident in his tone, “You’re driving.”
    Matt ground his teeth. “Obviously.”
    “Matt,” Peter stressed, horror rising, “you’re blind!”
    Time seemed to slow down. Matt blinked. He blinked again. He felt the steering wheel underneath his hands and the pedals beneath his feet. He blinked three more times. “Shit.”

    Or, Matt is too tired to remember that he's blind and drives a fucking car.

    For the past fourteen years, the holidays have been hell for Matt. All it was was a painful reminder of what he'd lost. Just a lineup of the anniversary of his dad's death, lonely holidays, and an uncelebrated birthday. The cherry on top was his intolerance of the cold since the accident, making it an altogether miserable season.
    Which is exactly why he is so hesitant to do anything in the winter, let alone celebrate Christmas with his friend's family.

    When what should have been a straight forward mission in Hell's Kitchen goes pear shaped due to lack of communication, teaching his teammates sign language seems like a logical step to Clint. Communication when their comms are down - great plan! And including the local vigilante, who's been working closely with them on this, is a real no-brainer.

    Until it turns out said vigilante is an asshole that thinks sign language is beneath him, judging by the way he's stubbornly refusing to learn it.

    (Conversely - Matt's trying, he really is but damn it, those two signs are exactly the same... what do you mean they mean completely different things?!)
