Summary

Summary
Duncan Wells is a thirty-one-year-old florist from Flea Bottom whose well-meaning friends sign him up for a dating app.
Dr. Baelor Targaryen is a forty-seven-year-old medieval literature professor who wrote a doctoral thesis on the reciprocal bond between kings and the men sworn to their service.

Dunk looked at the photo. He looked at the sharp grin, the arrogant posture.
"What's the job?"
"Undercover. No badge, no backup. Just you and the monster."
Dunk looked at the photo one last time, then closed the file.
"When do I start?"
Everyone knew the Targaryens. They ran the exclusive clubs, the drug cartels, the gambling districts. They also ran the whiskey distilleries, the hospital down the block, and the underbelly of a dozen legal businesses.
The Syndicacy of the Dragon was untouchable. And they were not to be fucked with.
But Dunk was a stubborn cop.

Baelor finally turned his head then, meeting his gaze properly for the first time since they left the building.
There was something darker in his eyes now.
Something that hadn’t been there earlier during the speech.

That was a very long message, Duncan.
Dunk’s jaw tightened.
You must have been thinking about me for quite a while.
His ears were already getting hot when the third message arrived.

Dunk stared at the screen.
“...what the fuck?”
Dunk, a scholarship engineering student and rugby player, is being relentlessly pursued by Aerion Targaryen — a rich, sharp, boundary-ignoring history student who flirts through provocation.

Summary
Waking up after the events of the trial, Ser Duncan the Tall is more confused than ever. Prince Baelor is completely uninjured and nobody seems to remember what has happened but him.
Nor does it explain the reaction upon the discovery of Dunk wounded within Ashford castle, mistaken for a mistreated servant of the household. The dragon princes of the realm do not seem to appreciate such treatment and immediately take Dunk under their wing, much to the hedge knight’s bewilderment.

“The Prince needs a sworn sword?” Dunk blinked at the two brothers, certain he must have misheard.
“A sworn shield,” Baelor corrected. The distinction seemed to matter.
“The title will be spoken publicly as a reward. A reconciliation. The prince you fought against now honours your valour and accepts that the Gods judged you to be innocent. A tale of chivalry restored, of a dragon gracious in defeat. Songs will smooth the rest.”
“And in truth?” Dunk asked before he could stop himself.
Maekar did not look away. “In truth, you will ensure my son does not forget what that day has cost.”
“You would have me... watch him.”
“I would have you guard him,” Baelor replied at once. “My nephew needs protection; from blades, from poison—"
“—and from himself.” Prince Maekar’s voice followed harder.
Baelor survives his injuries at Ashford and takes charge of the fallout. Determined to cure Aerion’s deepening psychosis, he brings his nephew to King’s Landing to guide him and help him master his darker impulses. Until then, the unstable prince will need guarding, from others as well as himself. Baelor chooses an unlikely protector: The Hedge Knight.

Summary
A great growl reverberates from the hollow. The men Baelor brought with him take a step back. Murmuring breaks out that he silences with a fist in the air. Something beyond pride roots him in place. The animal part of his brain understands that the thing down there is a predator larger than himself. It takes a moment to remember how the sounds are supposed to feel in his mouth, it takes a couple of tries before he dares to sound out the vowels, but the “Ser Duncan?” does in the end ring out clearly in the clearing. The rustling sound from the creature in the hollow stops. Slowly, it reveals itself.
He should be surprised, but he’s not. This feels like it was always meant to be, and he had just unknowingly been waiting around for the time to come.
Head low and shoulders hunched. Great wings are held tightly to its body as it slowly crawls out. It’s drenched so extensively in mud that the color of its hide is unextinguishable, but its eyes are a clear blue. A dragon is standing before him.AKA:

Summary
When Dennis agreed to cover shifts for Dr. Mohan on the night shift, he didn't think he would ever end up here. Kidnapped from the ambulance bay, his head pounding, and having to save the life of a man with limited medical supplies. That was supposed to be it. Somehow, he finds himself snatched up off a sidewalk, in the stables, in front of his home. There were no sacred spaces when you proved your worth.
In the middle of it all, Dennis is confused by the way Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot are circling him. The way they'd reach out and brush their fingers against his skin. The way they made sure he ate, got rest, and stayed safe. It made him ache with something he hadn't felt in a long time.

"What are you saying?" Maekar demanded. "You are telling me my son is already dead."
"I am offering a choice, Prince Maekar," the maester stammered, pulling a scalpel out of his satchel.
The blade caught the flickering candlelight, wickedly sharp. "A horrific choice. We can wait for him to wake. But, it is a fatal gamble. If the fire returns, he will die screaming."
The maester slowly lowered it, pointing towards the lower half of Aerion's spine.
"Or… I take my blade, and I intentionally sever the spinal cord. I cut the nerves dead."
Aerion receives the blow of the mace, and Maekar has to choose between killing the body or killing the spirit. Whatever the outcome is, Dunk is charged to mend the broken dragon. Inspired by Me Before You.
