The first time Shulk seeks him, his heart stops.
He looks so much like Fiora it’s jarring. His hair color, the shape of his eyes, the cut of his jaw; Shulk’s mouth runs dry and his stump aches and his chest feels like it’s about to burst, but there’s also Alvis—some form of Alvis, at least—and Matthew and two giant Ferronises right in front of him that need to be taken care of first. There’s so much happening. Shulk’s head hurts. The Ferronises charge up and Shulk watches as he runs in front of Glimmer and he feels like he’s going to die.

His fishing rod tugged in his hands, and in a rush, the memories of the sea breeze rustling through the trees, whistling tors—all the things that encapsulated the fiery wisps of his childhood at the limits of his memories flooded him with something akin to bittersweetness.
“Hey, looks like you got a good catch this time,” a rough voice interrupted from behind him.
Dedue reeled the fish in, noting how heavy it felt. With a satisfied quirk of his lips, he deposited the white trout into his brimming basket of fish.
“The head cook will be happy with that,” the man behind him continued as Dedue started to pack his things away. “He said you’d help with gathering the ingredients for today’s Fisherman’s Bounty special.”

Or, Dedue decides to cook himself a feast for a forgotten Duscurian holiday. Unexpectedly, he has people who want to celebrate with him.

Ike, however, remained rooted to the spot. He didn’t let go of Soren’s hand either.
“I’m not going back.”
Not going back? Soren’s stomach dropped. Ike was still staring out across the field, his lips set in a firm line. This was a visage that Soren had witnessed countless times across two wars, as familiar to him as words written in the Ancient tongue.
“You’re leaving?” he asked instead, making a valiant attempt not to sound as desperate as he felt.
