She took in the sight of Grace and Katya lying tangled up in Grace’s bed, Katya’s leg sticking out over the edge, Grace’s head resting on Katya’s chest, The Golden Compass still in Katya’s hand, both of them fast asleep. She kept standing there, looking for longer than she should have. She took a picture too, but it was blurry because of the dark and you wouldn’t be able to make out what the picture was of, unless you already knew. She kept it, anyway.
Or Trixie leaves home at 18 with her baby sister, at 21 Katya moves in next door and somewhere along the way they fall in love.

The first few hours passed in a blur of colorful drinks and dancing and relief. Nothing felt off between her and Priyanka. They would still smile brightly at each other, and Priyanka would still drag Lemon up to the bar to do shots with her even though Lemon probably should have stopped drinking three shots ago. None of that mattered though, because they were alright.
Or Lemon kissed Priyanka when she was drunk and jealous and now has to deal with the consequences of it.

Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Buck didn’t need all of his coworkers to look at him in alarm; he was pretty sure he’d gone deadly pale. His daughter knew four things about him, and one of them was his old tinder profile handle. He felt a little like he was going to die.
“She’s got your eyes,” Eddie commented, unhelpfully.

The ends of her sweatshirt are grasped in her fists, wrapped around her hands. He half expects her to pull the hood up, tie the strings over her face, and completely tuck herself away. It makes him think of the other night with that nasty motel bedspread pulled right up beneath her chin, asking about locks on the door. It makes him think of a scared kid.
“What difference does it make?” Ellie mumbles out while avoiding his gaze. “I’m out of there now.” She turns a steely gaze towards him. “And I’m not going back.”
“Wasn’t planning on makin’ ya,” Joel whispers in the late night air. The stars are coming out. If it’s a clear enough night, maybe he can point out Mars to her.
