Summary
Ozai meant for Zuko to be killed when he sent him away. The fact that he didn't leads to a lot of complications for the poor boy, who faces being a political prisoner and pawn until he is given over to Aang. Growing past the abuse is a winding road and Zuko is thankful he has friends for the first time in his life to help him through it.

Summary
"Zuzu, did you finally master lightning?"
His response is a strangled gasp, and she sighs before stalking forward to assess the scene properly. Their father is on the ground, and Zuko, dressed in clothes not at all befitting of a prince, is curled up on himself.
"No," Zuko rasps. "I—he tried to kill me."
"And you're surprised?"
Zuko lets out a wet laugh. "I shouldn't be, should I?"
"Hm," is Azula's only response. Zuzu has always been frighteningly naïve.
"You must think I'm stupid."
While she would normally say, Of course I do, it doesn't feel quite right for the current circumstances. Instead, she says levelly, "You've never been able to think before acting."
When he doesn't respond, she sighs. "So? What was your plan?"
or: When Ozai tries to kill Zuko after the eclipse, he redirects the lightning back at him. Azula cares about four people, and one of them just tried to kill another. Now she has to pick up the pieces.
