Summary
Will and Mike have been living together for the past few months, but haven't really spoken properly. After a night together, everything starts to change, and both boys must deal with their feelings for the other. A girl leaves Mike feeling extremely jealous, and Mike is a confusing mess with everything going on. So, they start to hangout again, laugh, have fun, admit their secrets and flirt subtly (it's obvious). Will and Mike must learn to accept themselves, and to love who they want to love.

A rewrite of the Volume 3 void scene between El and Mike, about how Mike loves Will and how he needs to let El go. This shows Mike and Will's friendship, his grief, and eventual acceptance. I'm so mad about Byler's ending, and this is how that scene should have gone in my head if it had to happen.

You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.
Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right?

Reread worthy IT'S JUST SO SO GOOD! I loved the whole school feel it kinda had, and how they made the hawins universe less we're all going to die to- Mike and Will are complete idiots. And, El/Jane HAS A PERSONALITY THANK GOD see duffers was it that hard not to reduce her to being Mike's gf and 'childhood magic'????

“Oh?” Will says, and it’s definitely teasing now, enough for Mike to feel himself turning warm, all down his neck and to the tips of his own – sadly unpatterned – socks. “Someone?”
“Yeah.” Mike nods. Oh, god. This is fine. “In a very arbitrary sense of the word. Just– people. Someone.”
Mike is approximately ninety-eight percent sure that his feelings are requited. That last two percent, however, has really been throwing him for a loop.

One of the first AUs of these 2 that I've read, and I loved every second of it. You can tell that the writer went through these things due to the perfect amount of detail and humour surrounding it, and I loved every second I spent reading this. Funny, cute, Mike being stupid, boy bands- what's not to love?

Summary
Will burst into one of the most blinding, dazzling smiles Mike had ever seen. It wouldn't matter if they were on the darkest, cloudiest night in the middle of the ocean; Will was a beacon of light. Mike couldn't tell if there were actual stars in his eyes or if it was just a reflection, but it didn't matter. Will was too stunningly beautiful, and that look was too intense, and he had to look away as his stomach turned and his brain tried to come up with a generic response to whatever Dustin was saying on the radio. The past few weeks he had been desperately trying to convince himself that it was just his old crush rearing it's head. He had moved on from Will, really. They could be friends again without all the relationship drama that came between them in highschool. But sitting on the top of a hill on a cold November night he realized nothing had changed at all.
Fuck, he was still madly in love with Will Byers.

After graduating, both Mike and Will struggled to adjust to life after the Upside Down. It didn't help they had already drifted apart. But now, 8 years later, Mike finally reached out again, and the 2 struggle to rebuild their friendship while also hiding their romantic feelings for each other.Series

Honestly this is probably my favourite fanfic to this day. The entire thing was perfect: the slow burn; the rekindling of their love for each other; the angst; the PTSD and trauma that they both experienced being tastefully written and perfectly ties in with their characters and what would realistcally happen after what they've gone through; and the silliness/love they have for each other and somebody else (if you read this you'll know). This writer is amazing, all of her works on this AU are so so good, and I will recommend this to everyone.

So unbelievably good that I was taken back reading this. The writing is SPECTACULAR and this AU was perfectly written, so that you could understand the characters as they matched the canon ones perfectly, but love the new set up that this fic gave. One of my favourite fics I've read, just because of the sheer talent that this writer has.
