Summary
“You’re being really insistent about this seat thing,” Hoseok comments. “What’s wrong with your seat?”
“It’s an unlucky number,” Seokjin lies.
“And you want to give one of us your unlucky seat?” Taehyung asks, eyes going wide with false hurt. “What happened to hyung will do it, huh?”
-or-
When Seokjin had booked the flight to Malta, sitting next to Yoongi had seemed like a great idea. It seems a bit less great on the way back, after the two of them end up sleeping together the last night of their trip. Now they’re stuck on a 15+ hour plane ride, with Yoongi furious, Seokjin confused, and their five nosy friends.

absolute masterclass in narrative, worldbuilding, and emotional tone. the characters within are singularly intriguing and capitivating, with stark behaviors and complex struggles that they are forced to navigate within this world.
there is such an attention to detail that this becomes an absolute delight to read, and no doubt re-read in the future . ahhh. just absolutely lovely; wow. i love art so much; having the privledge of witnessing and internalizing long-term acts of creation like this is very, very cool

Summary
No one really knows what happened to the Singularity. They have the ship’s data, the crew’s logs, until the scheduled transmission point just past S0-2 — they have all the indications that the mission was going as planned, until the Singularity and its crew vanished.
No one has told the crew of the Serendipity that their mission is to hunt for their predecessors, but it’s an unspoken acknowledgment that follows them around the compound, into press conferences, under the breaths of all their technicians. They’re called a rescue team by the press, and by the other squads on base, and within themselves; it’s how Jimin thinks of himself, as he straps himself into his flight suit.
A slingshot around the galaxy lands Park Jimin face to face with his own worst fear.

read this years ago, absolutely adored it. heart wrenching and beautiful. this story sits in my memories like a scattering of melancholy stars against a deep black sky…a few tender moments away from the rising of a new, hopeful dawn

Bookmarker's Notes
read this back in the spring.
one of my favorite stories ever posted on this site… the writing depicts such a clear vision of humanity, grief, and of struggling, flawed hope in the face of seemingly inevitable annihilation. masterclass in showcasing the strength and weaknesses inherent to perseverance which stems from everlasting love. reading it made me cry quite a bit.
the ups and downs it takes left me feeling raw and bare and human, like i was seeing a play-through of my bitter, dirtied self in the mirror. and finding, ultimately, that i too am worthy of love. despite life’s catastrophes, i am filled with nauseous, fragile hope. inevitably, i will change. and that change will hurt me, but it will also bring me love.
don’t let me down (don’t let me fly) reminded me that as humans, we deserve to find spaces (places, people, skills) where we can trust and heal, even in the face of all that we do not know. perhaps because of— or especially in spite of— what has already come to pass.
we grow and change and love in spite of what we can no longer alter.
(thank you wegonchange, if you see this. i really love and respect your work)

This has been forever stuck in my brain since I first read it a year or so ago. Absolutely incredible work of art. Deeply unsettling. Creative / experimental horror at its finest imo
