Summary
One would expect that when the world starts crashing down, there would be explosions and fires and screams around. Geralt never expected that an empty apartment, missing things, and deafening silence would feel the same.
Jaskier had enough when Geralt again chooses his ex Yennefer over him and spends a night at her place. He had enough of constantly coming in second and being overlooked, disregarded and taken for granted by the person he loves the most. When his hurt became too much and his love was no longer enough, leaving was the only thing left to be done.

“White Wolf,” the man rasped as the Witchers stopped just before the table, “I have come to re-” he broke off in a cough, a painful sound that had Triss already out of her seat, hesitating just to the side of the man, ready to help when permitted. “To request asylum,” he continued, pushing off from the guards helping him and sinking to his knees, though whether in submission or pain, Geralt couldn’t be sure. “My name is Julian Alfred Pankratz,” he continued haltingly, struggling to get the words out, “I request sanctuary from Redania and Nilfgaard…” he stopped talking, swaying where he knelt, and Geralt hastily glanced to Eskel for advice.
Or: Geralt's the Warlord, and some random noble (Jaskier) comes walking in, badly injured, before collapsing in the main hall and leaving a FUCK ton of questions in his wake.

Summary
To a witcher, touch is almost never a good thing.
Touch means something or someone has gotten too close. Close enough to rend open the places where armour doesn’t protect the vulnerabilities underneath. Close enough to see the pulse where it beats just under the surface, to identify where to strike.
To Geralt, touch is everything beyond that, too. He craves the moments where touch doesn’t mean pain, damage, or potential death, but where it means safety and care. In a witcher’s life, those moments are far and few between.
Geralt bears it and watches the seasons change until he can take out that part of himself for winter, and let it breathe.He’s used to it, and he’s already endured it for decades when he meets Jaskier

Watching the stranger undress and wash himself Geralt realizes too late that the man he watches is none other than the Omega promised to his brother.
