Karkat didn’t mind touch. It happened when Terezi wrapped her arm around his shoulders and yanked him down the hall. It happened when Sollux pushed him away from his computer to fix whatever program he fucked up. It happened when Kanaya put a comforting hand on his head and helped him chill the fuck out. Hell, it even happened when Nepeta pounced on him in an attempt to ‘glomp’ him, whatever that even meant.
He was used to touch. It happened every day, casual small things that reminded him that he was connected to these people. That they were really there, that they cared for him in a strange fucked up weird violent way. Mostly.
But god fucking damn. Gamzee was just touchy.

Finally, as he climbed the last grassy hill of the troll kingdom, the ocean spread out infront of him. The wind whipped his hair around as the sea called, almost violet in the setting sun. Karkat took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He swore he could still smell the Alternian sea if he tried hard enough. Swore that he could hear the cries of Gl'bgolyb far off from the shore. Swore that if he tried hard enough, a 6 sweeps old Gamzee would be staring off into the ocean, waiting for his Lusus to come home.
Karkat opened his eyes. The same Earth C beach stared back at him.

Dave supposed that he should be in Washington State by now from the few motels, less few nights slept in the car. The anxiety that crept in his bones kept him from looking at the time he had left until arrival, just letting himself believe that the road was his new home, that the stolen money and money earned from unspeakable moments was always in his possession. That nothing had really happened in Houston, Dave just decided to go on a road trip alone. With pills upon pills of things he didn't bother to google what they were for. Just keep taking, just keep swallowing.

Zacharie had always known The Batter was something else. Something different than what his world had previously known. He had once recalled seeing The Batter's eyes, dark, red pupils, more than what should be necessary for a 'human'. He still remembered the day he appeared out of nowhere, almost as if he was a glitch in the programming, though it was all part of the script. Pablo had warned him to stick only to business, that he had a strange feeling from the man.
