Summary
“Abashed the Devil stood, and felt how awful goodness is, and saw virtue in her shape how lovely: saw, and pined his loss."
-John Milton, 'Paradise Lost'In September of 1942, Tom Riddle is a brilliant, bitter schoolboy on the precipice of becoming a monster. Already wearing his first Horcrux around his finger, he doesn’t plan to let anything halt his ascent towards realizing his ultimate goal: becoming the greatest Dark Lord the world has ever seen.
But when a powerful and mysterious transfer student arrives at Hogwarts, Tom’s initial spark of interest rapidly ignites into an all-consuming obsession, threatening to unravel his carefully laid plans.
When ambition and pride run up against regret and repentance, what will be the outcome? Is there such thing as a soul too mutilated to save?

I love love love the portrayal of Tom. He is still his psychopath self, but not beyond redemption. You can see his silly teenage boy sled. You can feel how he is toying on the edge of going down his canonical path. Good thing Harry is there to stop him. But even then, the change in Tom is gradual, character development involuntary, with his violent attempts to not allow it. And additional shout out for Harry being a badass in this one and not losing initiative even once

The thing about stars is that they're doomed to die. Either with a whisper as their light, a speck among billions, winks out or with a bang that rips through the universe. Star Guardians are similar. They illuminate the darkness with their light, burning until they fall. Faker has been burning for centuries. He's not sure where to go from here.

T1 Star Guardian AU except I took canon and absolutely RAN with it because I've spent like the last 3 months losing my mind and woke up one day to find a very long document full of words.

OH HOW IT HURT
The sort of angst that is so tender and human in its nature it makes you feel alive, it makes you feel your soul, every corner of your heart. It’s about human connection and pain, loss and suffering that comes with it, but also strength and home and love. The happy ending is so earned and so realistic… things will never be as they were and maybe that’s for the better. Genuinely made me feel so alive and full of life in all its sorrows -

Anakin had come to the very obvious conclusion that Obi-Wan Kenobi was completely, horribly inept with technology.
Obi-Wan had come to the even more obvious conclusion that his Padawan was the most gullible and unobservant person in the entire galaxy.

Summary
“You do not teach your men to trust each other enough for that, General Geshu,” Jiyan murmurs. The hand slides around to the back of his thigh, squeezing at the lean muscle there for less than half a second, but to Jiyan, it feels like an eternity. “You do not teach your men to watch each other’s backs, nor do you instill lessons of relying on your comrades to handle work that you could do yourself. How a man who works solely off the ‘every man for himself’ mentality was ever chosen to be general is a mystery to me.”
Geshulin turns his head so far that his breath fans over the side of Jiyan’s face, and the warmth emanating from his skin is far closer than it was before. “I do so love your compliments.”
Jiyan is so affronted by the remark that his nose wrinkles in disgust.
“Only a man such as yourself would take such loathing judgment to be a compliment of your character.”

Summary
In another life, Orochimaru never leaves Konoha, opting to remain within the village that equally reveres and reviles him. Fighting a bitter battle against forces within the village that are more influential and well-positioned, he finds himself gifted with one last shining opportunity: three children, a team of genin, handed to him because Konoha has no better choice. Orochimaru agrees to become a jounin-sensei for the first and the last time, taking on the next generation's Team Seven: Uchiha Sasuke, Nara Shikamaru, and Uzumaki Naruto.
[ A gradual exploration of the author's very liberal Naruto headcanon, with a good!Orochimaru (well, sorta good) who eventually becomes the Godaime Hokage. Lots of chakra theory, cool jutsu, in-depth backstories, character development, political intrigue, and den mother Orochimaru feels! Also featuring: BAMF baby Team 7! Be prepared to suspend your disbelief; this will be another one of my long-running intense worldbuilding AUs. Let's go have fun! ]
