Shane’s grip tightens on the strap of his bag, but he still doesn’t respond. He keeps skating, eyes fixed ahead, pretending the words don’t land even as heat crawls back up his neck.
“But no,” he continues, clearly enjoying himself. “You choose rink, very bold.”
“Fuck off,” Shane exhales through his nose.
Ilya keeps talking as they slow near the boards, skating lazy circles around Shane like he has nowhere else to be. “Next time,” he says mildly, like he’s already planned it, “We use a hotel. I promise, much less… scandal.”

“I would like to take some, see how you look,” Ilya offers oh so casually. “It’s just for fun. You can keep all of them, after. Put them through the shredder. I don’t care.” He cares. The things he’d do to keep one of those photos.
Hollander wets his lips, glances back at the camera, flushes. Then the pounce: “You can leave it on the nightstand.”

When he finally reaches the top of the climb, the hallucination doesn’t go away. Jonas blinks and he’s still there, standing next to his bike leaning against a concrete bench, taking a selfie. Jonas watches as the mirage furrows his eyebrows at screen and readjusts the angle of his phone to take another photo. Jonas is vaguely aware that the wheezing sound he’s hearing is coming from his lungs and that the metallic taste in his mouth is his own blood.
Tadej startles when he finally looks up from the phone. That’s when Jonas vision becomes staticky at the edges.

The Sharmas are second-generation Aussie battlers working hard to re-establish themselves after a family tragedy. Kate has sacrificed everything to protect her younger sister's prospects but with Edwina about to graduate uni and Mary finally finding her feet, she can no longer avoid tackling her own heart's desires. Kate's not exactly sure what's next but an entitled, white fuckboy is certainly not top of the list.
