Summary
The youngest of too many, more of a burden than anything, most familiar with being invisible - Jiaju doesn't know what it's like to be relied on. Being taken to the tin house isn't even much of a change; at least here he doesn't feel the guilt of being another mouth to feed, and so he's never bothered counting the days, unlike a few of the others. He misses school, but that was a luxury, maybe. And here at least he's possibly more useful, if not cared for. All he knows is that his second spring is coming when all hell breaks loose because of the new kid, an oversized idiot - and after a full day out searching the adults come back exhausted but still in a rage, dropping a body like a frozen wad of clothes on the floor and kicking it before walking off to argue about something that sounds urgent.

He tried not to be afraid, weaving a path several paces behind in the dark, out of reach of street lights. Near the edge of town, Xiaoguang, nervous as hell by then and about ready to attempt to drag Bei-ge home despite their size difference, fumbled when they stopped at a row of trash bins. He watched silently while Bei-ge pulled a glass bottle from his pocket and balanced it carefully on the metal lip of one of the rusty, filthy boxes, then turned to sit in the dirt.
Xiaoguang waited, breathing through his mouth to avoid the smell. Bei-ge noticed him eyeing the soda and shook his head. "I don't want - it would be bad luck." After a few minutes, he picked it up again and poured some out onto the ground, downing the rest with effort as if it was bitter before replacing the bottle in its spot.
If it was bad luck, why was he drinking it?

Avoiding the hopeful conversation of a well-meaning woman in a Chanel jacket at a banquet table—not to mention years of Kwon Hyuk's insinuations about any woman Joo Won mentioned more than once—felt like reason enough to do it now. One couldn’t hide behind a spray of orchids for an entire dinner service.

He's sure they were.
They were arguing about something, but Juwon can't put his finger on whatever it was. Largely because his fingers are otherwise occupied tangling themselves into Dongsik's hair as he tries to pull him somehow even closer, like he can kiss the man close enough to fuse their bodies.
Dongsik isn't helping matters, what with the way his arms have banded around Juwon's waist, and he's not sure which of them is leading but eventually Dongsik's back hits a wall and there's an audible sigh of relief as he tightens his hold on Juwon, hand creeping up his spine to nudge him yet closer.
They were arguing about something, Juwon remembers.
Han Juwon and Lee Dongsik are in love with each other, this much is obvious. But who realises first? (ft. everybody's POV)
