Sherlock hadn’t been in the least bit cold, but he felt warm through and through when John snuggled in beside him. He wondered idly if they could stay like this forever; cuddled up in front of the fire with nothing more complex to solve than the mystery of the box in John’s pocket. “You said that had a present for me,” he murmured with his lips almost touching John’s earlobe.“A small present,” cautioned John. He reached into his dressing gown and drew out a flat box wrapped in unadorned royal blue tissue paper. “Still it’s the thought that counts.”
Sherlock arched an eyebrow. “And what thought was that?”

They find the Shire, rich in food, but reluctant to trade with strangers. What better solution than an arranged marriage? Hobbits get a connection to the dwarves, the dwarves solve their trade dispute.
Bilbo Baggins just happens to be the only hobbit willing to do it.

In an attempt to get the Arkenstone back for Thorin, Bilbo discovers the ring he's been using is the One Ring. Seized by a need to destroy gold, especially gold with the ability to ensnare creature and king alike, he sets out alone for Mordor. Anything to forget about the love that gold cost him.
What he doesn't know is that Thorin is no longer under the thrall of gold, and is desperately racing to catch up with him to keep him safe.
They may have just started on another adventure, but this one may not end as well as their first quest.

The night when he wakes up thrashing with the Prince of Erebor kneeling by his bedside in a nightshirt comes as an unpleasant surprise.
“I… I…” Bilbo tries to apologize, but his throat closes on the words.
“You were whimpering in your sleep.” Thorin says. “And begging. Is there aught that I should know?”
Bilbo sags back into the mattress and shakes his head. He has little to complain about. He was protected at every juncture of his journey. No goblin ever touched him or bit into him. The things he sees in the darkness are phantasms and not memory. “No. Forgive me. I won’t wake you again.”
Thorin waves off his apology like it’s an insect …and not one that would have survived the encounter either. “You will tell me what it is that you need.” He says it like a general, like a man used to giving orders, and surprisingly Bilbo responds to it.
“I need…” He takes a ragged breath. “I need to not think for a while.”
“Perhaps I can help with that.” Thorin says.
Bilbo is taken as a slave by goblins and liberated by the dwarves of Erebor. This is the story of what comes after that.

Summary
After defending Thorin, Bilbo is captured by Azog, who is intrigued by the small, yet courageous creature. So much so, that the Pale Orc makes the Hobbit his mate, and Bilbo spends four months in the Misty Mountain's Orc caves while the rest of his company resume their journey, convinced the Hobbit is no longer alive. But when Azog leaves to kill the King under the Mountain and conquer Erebor, Bilbo manages to flee and reunite with his former companions.
The Dwarves, of course, are delighted to see their burglar again, however, they realize soon enough that Bilbo Baggins of Bag End would never return completely, and in his stead an Orc Lord came to their gates.Eventually bagginshield.
