Even with the last warm rays of the sun streaming in, the room still seemed so dark. It suited her, though. I'd never seen her in anything other than black or dark blue. It did also make her seem all the more imposing.
I was aware that she may have still been trying to toy with me but... something in what she had said to me about her and Rebecca seemed genuine. And Maxim must have kept her on for a reason. Clearly she must be good at her job. It seemed pretty foolish now that I had never asked for her to go over how the household worked with me. I just had wanted to seem as though I already knew, so she wouldn't think me more of a naive little girl than she already did.
