Donghyuck looks up and immediately feels a hysterical laugh bubble up in his throat. It’s fucking Mark Lee, ex-best friend, ex-love of his life, standing and looking at him with stupidly gentle concern. He looks good. He looks better than he did last summer, somehow. It shouldn’t be possible.
He holds himself with that same easy, athletic grace. His blonde dye job, which Donghyuck had seen on his Instagram a few months ago, is growing out at the roots. He’s wearing a windbreaker and jean shorts, and when Donghyuck looks at the strong, built lines of Mark’s legs, he wishes the meteor would hurry it up.

"It's a perfect window of opportunity for Donghyuck, lips close enough that all he has to do is tilt his head forward a bit, a clear shot that would be difficult for Mark to avoid without breaking his neck. At best he'd land something wet on his cheek. Unless Mark didn't move, of course, then his attempt at teasing him would be foiled.
That’d be legendary, he thinks, if when Donghyuck jokingly leaned in, lips puckered for a kiss, Mark kissed him right back. The image hits him head on, making him grin, like a weird joke only he's in on."
(One day at practice, Mark gets the funniest idea for a practical joke. Now he just needs Donghyuck to try and kiss him.)

!!!!! must read. such good characterisation of neurodivergency and the love you can still get from others even when you feel broken. you WILL find your people, do not fear, they are just waiting for you to meet. absolutely loved mark and haechan’s relationship, soulmates beyond words, and mark and jeno’s bond too. but more important than the characters it’s the message it gives to the reader. a masterpiece.

If Donghyuck was to tell the story in the right way, no stutter and weird pauses and time skips and words he forgets to give meaning to when they pass through his teeth stupidly fast, he would have to say it all started when they met.
Thing is, Donghyuck likes messy and raw and he mumbles and spits random words when he tells stories, so if it really was up to him, he’ll tell you the story in the wrong way; just like this:
