Before Doyoung could leave, Taeyong found himself moving. He wrapped his hand around Doyoung’s wrist, finding the joint more solid than it looked. Doyoung could be summarised as that: something so beautiful it looked fragile, only to be as unyielding as steel. “Doyoung?”
He glanced down at Taeyong’s grip. “Yes?”
“Do you really have a crush?”
It took another handful of seconds for Doyoung to look up from their hands and meet Taeyong’s eyes. “I wouldn’t call it that, no.”

Summary
They can be friends, of course, and maybe even friends who's meetups feel suspiciously like the dates they'd once had— But he's sure that's all they'll be. Surely, if they were meant to be the couple they once were, wouldn't they have stayed that way to begin with?
Perhaps there's a denial to it all; a denial to the way Doyoung's heart skips a beat whenever he and Taeyong share offhanded contact, or when his phone lights up with a message from the other, and the distant, longing sensation within his core whenever he has the urge to snake his arm around Taeyong in public, or place a gentle kiss on his lips whenever their time together comes to an end, because Doyoung needs to get home to work on whatever he's most recently been assigned at work.
He won't let himself acknowledge any of it, won't let himself feed into the nagging desire his heart.
He won't let himself go through that hurt again.
Especially not when he's so, so sure the promotion he's been chasing for longer than he can comprehend is finally right around the corner.

“I'd make you count,” Doyoung murmurs.
“What?”
“Before spanking you again. I'd tell you that I wanted you to count each hit, and I’d ask you what number we were on.”
He looks at Taeyong expectantly, and it takes a second for Taeyong’s brain to lurch into gear. “O-one,” he stutters, and then, “I’d keep count well.”
“I know you would.” Their hands aren’t tangled together any more, which only gives Doyoung the freedom to turn into Taeyong, push his wet hair back off his forehead. His thumb skirts all the tender, vulnerable dips in Taeyong’s skull; his temple and the corner of his eye socket, the hollow of his cheek. He drags it to the dip behind Taeyong’s ear and digs under the jut of bone there, a harsh hurt that slides rapidly into relief as he starts to work out the tension between spine and skull. “You’re always so good for me.”
[Or: Taeyong wants Doyoung to hurt him. It feels like the kind of thing they should have a discussion about]
