“It’s two o’clock in the fucking morning, Ilya.”
Ilya’s eyebrows screw in, and he swirls around to look at his computer. Shane bathes in the light of watching the time dawn on Ilya, whose face then morphs into an expression of fear and worry.
Then, he is clicking around on the computer and the machine cuts off. Finally,
“Ah, moya lyubov—“ Ilya starts,
“I swear to God Ilya, if you don’t get to bed right now.” Shane concludes for him.
Shane doesn’t mind if Ilya plays his games. However, when his precious sleep is in the crossfire, his boundaries are being pushed.

Summary
Well, it is indeed a cat.
A morbidly fleshy, sack of skin, bones, and fat sort of cat. Ilya’s never seen anything like it. He’s seen cats that were overtly fluffy, some who were much too fat for what their bones could handle. He’s seen cats who had pearls for eyes and coat patterns that never seemed possible.
But never in his life has he seen a cat who has nothing at all. No fur, nothing that makes the cat a furry feline friend. This cat is simply skin and wrinkles, like someone had decided they wanted to try and make a human baby cat hybrid. Its fat is all in the wrong places, pudgy at its stomach yet lean around its limbs. Its neck is just wrinkles, there is no smoothness to it.
“Shane— malysh, that is not a cat.”
When Shane and Ilya finally agree on getting a cat, Ilya is expecting a docile, furry feline who wants to cuddle with him all day long. He’s greeted by the complete opposite and Shane doesn’t see the issue.

Summary
“Tell me, lyubimyy,” Ilya pushes, his hand crawling around to cradle the side of Shane’s face. His palm is brazen against Shane’s skin. He’s defeated against Ilya’s efforts; his sway and his strength against Shane.
Shane nudges into that hand, his nose running against the inside of Ilya’s wrist. Wafts of Ilya’s blood fill his nose, sweet with a biting edge. He pulls himself back mentally and berates that ache stinging his gums.
His eyes are shut as he says, “Just reading and thinking.”
Ilya glances at the book at the foot of the bed, “Naturally,” he chides, softness lacing around his tone.
Naturally, right.
Nothing he does is natural. It was never natural the moment he became what he was. Everything about him is questionable— uncanny.
Spending time with Shane at the cottage means many things, one of those being a secret that Ilya is determined to figure out.

“Ilya,” Shane says in a tone both reprimanding and chirpy.

Summary
prompt: stomach bug
The sound of retching in the ensuite was enough to pull Shane forcibly from sleep. It took him a moment or two to figure out what exactly he was hearing, but when it finally registered in his sleep-addled brain, he pulled himself to his feet, stumbling to the bathroom to see what was going on.
Now, don’t get him wrong, Shane had seen Ilya in that position multiple times before. He could be a heavy drinker, and his ability to hold his drink had lessened the more time he spent in Canada, but this felt… drifferent. Those other times, Ilya hadn’t looked clammy and pale, and his curls weren’t sticking to his head. Those other times, he hadn’t been knelt there for so long his knees were red raw. And those other times, he had at least been able to turn and greet Shane before going back to heaving up his guts.
This wasn’t like those other times.

“Oh come on,” she tisked. “There could be all kinds of old memories and family keepsakes in there you might want!”
“Doubt it.”
