Gusu law states that no one can know a superhero’s civilian identity with the only exception given for immediate family members. And so when Lan Wangji’s best friend accidentally finds out that he is the powerful and beloved Hanguang-jun, Lan Wangji is resigned to leave Gusu for good.
But then Wei Wuxian suggests the other, more obvious solution.

Summary
The taxi driver stares at Lan Wangji like he's insane and for a self-conscious moment Lan Wangji wonders if his pronunciation is so bad the man simply didn't understand him. He knows he reads and writes nearly flawlessly, but he's never been much of a talker and that has always hindered the verbal aspect of his language studies.
"You don't want to go there, man," the taxi driver tells him.
"I do," Lan Wangji replies.
"That place - that place is haunted."

Wei Ying might not remember anything that happened, but his body does. His lips are extra sensitive, even into the next day. His mouth isn’t sore per se, it just feels—used in a way he’s not familiar with. He has four dime sized bruises outside one hip. If he spreads his fingers just right, he can fit a fingertip into each one. He doesn’t bother wasting spiritual energy on healing the bruises.

Dating a yao is a lot more mundane than some might imagine. Or, at least, less filled with danger. At least for Lan Zhan.
Of course, "dating" may be too strong of a word for it. Currently Lan Zhan is taking it day by day, as Wei Ying wishes, but he is biding his time until he can truly demonstrate to Wei Ying that they have nothing to worry about and that Wei Ying is safe with him.
Years of lonely hunting for scraps, however, have conditioned Wei Ying to be wary of even the most reliable of circumstances. Lan Zhan will not let that dissuade him. He will simply have to make himself more reliable.
