Luke listened intently, nodding along as she spoke—not that listening required much effort.
His attention drifted to the small details without meaning to: the way her eyelashes fluttered whenever she laughed, the way the warm glow of the lamp caught in her dark hair and turned the edges of it gold, the animated way her hands moved whenever she spoke about something she cared about.
She seemed to light up when she talked about acting, and Luke found himself watching her with the same quiet fascination he'd been trying (and failing) to suppress since she'd arrived.
Fortunately, Yerin appeared entirely unaware of this fact.
Unfortunately, Luke was all too aware of it.
Because the longer he sat there talking to her, the more he found himself wanting to keep doing exactly that.
He was so, so screwed.

I love Sense and Sensibility and I love Jane Austen, but I've always been way more interested in the romance between Marianne and Colonel Brandon than the one between Elinor & Edward. Their story isn't told with as much detail, especially toward the end, so this is my attempt to explore what may have occurred between them. Not at all criticizing Austen (imagine!). I totally understand that their romance was not the main focus of the story. I've just always wished I could sort of zoom in on what exactly happens between them during the time between Marianne's illness and their wedding. Particularly with emphasis on how Marianne's character develops and changes.
Anyway, here's my crack at it. Enjoy!

Summary
Mary Bennett knew what was to happen on her wedding night. Or, more accurately, she sort of knew what was to happen on her wedding night. There were many books hidden under her bed, both in childhood and adulthood, that briefly mentioned the logistics of the activities that would occur, but only in the briefest, most clinical sense.
To be completely frank, she was unsure what the appeal was. Besides, it is not as if she thought she would ever have the opportunity to experience said activities. The only additional information she was provided had come from her sisters, and they all had different ideas of whether or not wifely duties were… pleasurable. And even Lizzie, who had expressed how wonderful her wedding night had been, never went into great detail about what had made it so wonderful.
Now, only a day before her wedding, Mary was more confused than she had ever been. For the first time ever, she had the realization that she would be acting out the intimate details she had read about, not just reading them.-
Or: I thought it would be nice if Mary learned the appeal of intimacy with her husband while he reads a particularly... spicy poem aloud to her.
