As the guards changed at midnight, the Snezhnayan agents had hatched their plan. By morning, power in Mondstadt had changed hands. Its monuments lay in ruins. Its people mourned. And its once great house Ragnvindr--from which all of Mondstadt’s greatest rulers and warriors had descended in the last 500 years--had been exterminated.

Before he even had time to react, Childe was in front of him, the bestial mass of armor menacingly glaring down at him. “You aren’t in the position to be making requests, least of all demands,” Childe growled, leaning close, “I never expected such cruel treatment from you, sensei- frankly, I’m quite deeply hurt.”
He should have seen it coming, however, a small part of him still refused to believe it. Refused to believe that Childe would plunge his monstrous hand deep inside Zhongli’s chest, his body sizing up as those claws curled around his Gnosis, severing it from his body. In his last moments of awareness, Zhongli raised his trembling hand, placing it over his chest.
A violet claw enclosed around his hand, a gentle caress against his pale skin, and then everything went dark.
