Summary
Frustrated with the lack of evidence in several grisly murder cases, the FBI recruits Shane Hollander, an exceptionally gifted homicide detective-turned-professor, to offer insight into their ongoing investigation.
The problem with his uncanny ability to empathize with even the most horrific serial killers, however, is that it tends to make him unstable- so to prevent him from slipping, he's paired with the astute forensic psychiatrist Dr. Ilya Rozanov, who for some reason, immediately develops a strange interest in him.

Ilya reaches over and pushes an idle strand of hair behind his ear, before brushing his thumb over Shane’s freckles.
“You haven’t stopped looking at me since I came to the table,” Shane murmurs.
“I’ve been looking at you since I came to the club. I would have come sooner, had I known the most stunning man in New York was working here.”
Shane feels his cheeks warm. Ilya leans forward slowly, giving Shane enough time to put space between them if he wants to.
“Are you curious?” Ilya whispers, “Do I make you curious?”
Shane’s breath hitches.

Shane Hollander would probably rather die than admit to the world (or himself) that he’s a sub, because all respected NHL players are doms. When years of living a touch-starved, repressed, hockey-focused life finally catch up with him and cause a medical emergency, he’s not scared or sad. He’s fucking angry. And he becomes Ilya Rozanov’s problem at the Behavioral Education & Authority Relationships Services (B.E.A.R.S. for short).
