Ranpo snickered. Atsushi closed his eyes. This was his fault for starting bets with the both of them in the first place – he hardly ever won, and now the price was simply too high to pay. His dignity, or what remained of it, was what was left on the line. He swallowed, his face pinched like he’d tasted something sour. “What do I have to buy again…?”
Atsushi goes to buy a sex toy.

“Hey!” Atsushi snatches the bottle back immediately. His next sip is hasty; a little bit of the drink spills out of his mouth, drips down, and his tongue darts out with tiger-reflex speed, trying and failing to lick at it. It’ll dry sticky, Dazai thinks. All over his chin. He’s thinking so hard about it, in fact, that he swivels in his chair again, and, oops, his legs bump into Atsushi’s, jostling him sharply enough that the drink splashes out of the bottle, soaking down his shirt, into the fabric of his pants. Atsushi squawks, face reddening at near-record speed.
Dazai makes a mistake.

“Perhaps I want you to hurt me. That’s all I know after all,” Dazai tries, finding odd, mournful notes in his voice. It wasn’t supposed to go this way between them. There wasn’t supposed to be a them at all after his defection from the Port Mafia, but old habits die hard. Buried feelings don’t ever meet such an end at all, allowing roots to wrap around the crevices of every scar beneath the bandages. He averts his gaze, betraying himself for Chuuya to see. Flayed, bare. Stripped clean of his pride, Dazai mumbles, “perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad, if it’s Chuuya.”

"You broke it because you were bored," Chuuya states, the accusation sharper than any yell. "You broke it because you wanted me to stop reviewing the territorial mandates and pay attention. You broke it because you want a consequence."
Dazai chuckled, the sound airy and slightly breathless. "And what if I did, My Lord? Will you simply give me a lecture on the economic history of rare spirits? That seems terribly boring."
Chuuya’s expression tightened into something intensely possessive. "Boring is what you will never be allowed to feel in my domain. You are restless, Fox. And restlessness must be dealt with."
She leaned in, her breath warm against Dazai’s ear. "You calculated this, didn’t you? You wanted me angry. You wanted me to enforce the rules you crave to break."
"Perhaps," Dazai whispered, finally dropping the façade of indifference. The scent of Chuuya—spicy leather and raw power—was intoxicating. "Punish me properly, Chuuya. Don't let me get away with it.
