It’s soft at least, flowing and comfortable. White. Pure.
Virginal.
It barely covers the top of Steve’s thighs.
He tugs as the nightgown again, embarrassment ticking at him. It was the only thing he’d been given to wear though, so it’s either this or nude, which isn’t really an option. He’s still resentful of it though.
A large moth flutters across the room, the noise of it’s wings barely discernible over the crackle of the fire.
Steve's trapped in the castle; his only option is to wait for the monster to arrive.

But he didn’t count on the fact there was one person in the room who, besides Eleven and Hopper, had the reason to be the most stir-crazy of them all — and Munson had practically made antagonizing Steve into an even bigger pastime than a professional goddamn sport.
There were a variety of one liners he liked to deploy when Steve would roll his eyes or let loose a huff of annoyance.
“What’s got your panties in a twist, Harrington?” he would ask, or, “Baby skip his nap today?”
A personal favorite of his seemed to be some variation of asking if it was Steve’s time of the month. “You on your period, sweetheart?” he’ll ask. It never failed to kill with the boys, who would fall all over themselves laughing when he asked — usually after whatever meeting they were in, because it also never failed to get Nancy apoplectic. Munson, to his credit, had only needed twice to learn to keep that one way under his breath and out of her earshot for fear she’d shoot his nuts off.
These questions also had the unique ability to make Steve as red as a fucking tomato which, like, fuck him, he guessed.
In which Steve learns a thing or two, by doing a thing or two.

Like he can see the strategy clear as day and can’t understand why the other players are taking so long to decide on their next move. He’s never caught by surprise by the story. He built his nearly flawless absolute weapon of a character in less than twenty minutes.

The contrast of the traditional family engagement ring against his silver jewelry made it stand out even more. “There, did it.” his eyes climbed up to Eddie's. “Can I kiss you again?”

“One word, Eddie, one word and I'll drop everything to be with you.”He knows Steve means it. He meant it when he confessed he was happy they became friends; when he said “I love you” mid fuck or in the kitchen while they ate noodles late at night. He meant it when he sang loudly to each word of Freddie Mercury's I Was Born to Love You riding shotgun as Eddie drove through endless roads in the winter of 86. But then, he meant it when he said he had to move on.
He always means what he says.
Eddie, on the other hand, became good at making it seem like he means his every word, especially when he doesn't.
It's a brutal combination.

Summary
Steve’s still figuring Eddie out. Like how he'll wheedle and give Steve shit for an offhand remark or tone of voice. It’s not like Tommy, where there was always something darker looming behind his cocked brow or narrowed eyes. The wrong kind of look meant tipping the scales towards an inevitable violence.
With Eddie the wrong look will get cigarette smoke blown in Steve’s face. The wrong words will get teased and playfully flipped back in a way that makes it feel like Eddie’s gently humbling him. Like each time Steve’s face goes warm with embarrassment it’s another strike to the long-dead King Steve. It’s mostly harmless. It’s intriguing. It’s the type of game Steve wants to understand so he can play it back.

Sure, they've saved the world, but the best part of that really is that it doesn't end there and in a town where everyone thinks he murdered a girl, he's at least got Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley. It's really not his fault he accidentally starts living at Steve's house, he was invited, after all. There's a mystery too, about Barbara Holland and Steve's pool.
“Your boner is digging into me,” says Robin, and Steve snorts a tired sort of laugh.
“I don’t have a —”
“You do, I can feel it. Gross.”
“Okay, but it’s only a little one,” he says in a small voice which sounds like he’s impersonating someone.
“Are you ever going to let that go? I peed a little bit when the Russians got the torture devices out, okay?” She sounds amused, though.
Eddie jolts. “Russian torture devices?”
Robin carries on like she didn’t hear him but Steve catches his eye and he’s grinning. “How do you even have a boner dude? You were definitely having a nightmare I know your twitching means a nightmare… Did you have a boner over Vecna?”
