Summary
He freezes immediately, eye widening as he stares at the person standing across from Luffy. A boy of sixteen, wearing a pair of black slacks and a white buttoned down shirt with the collar popped to hug his neck. Three katana sit on the boy’s right hip. His eyes, a solid steel gray, are wide as he stares at Luffy. But, the most disturbing factor is the kid's face. The sun kissed tanned skin and hardened cheekbones with thin eyebrows. Green hair - marimo green hair - that stands up as though his hands have been run through it a thousand times.
Zoro's face. This kid has Zoro's face.

Hunting for treasure in the New World, the Strawhats come across a teenage Zoro. Except, this boy isn't Zoro. He goes by Roronoa Taika, son of the Strawhats' swordsman. Taika is a little lost. Eighteen years lost, to be exact. And, when their reckless captain makes a promise, the crew is stuck with a second marimo. But, when the Marines discover how Taika came to be, it spells danger for the crew. (Post-Fishman Island, Pre-Punk Hazard)

“Zoro!” Nami screams. “Get over here! You self-sacrificing dumbass!”
That’s not what this is about. Zoro has no intentions of self-sacrificing. Sure, he doesn’t want to watch his nakama hurt - Zoro never wants to see his nakama hurt. But, this is more than that. There’s only one person on this crew that can stand against Luffy and it sure as hell isn’t Nami. Zoro is the only one who would survive. And when Luffy wakes up again - when whatever this clears out of him - he needs his nakama to be alive. Knowing he hurt Zoro will be bad enough. Knowing he’s the reason one of his nakama died is something Luffy would never come back from.

Sanji could hear the laughs and joyful shouts of the crew echoing from up ahead celebrating their victory and Moria’s defeat. They were close. He surged forward again, shouting-

If you had told him even hours ago that he would be carrying his injured nemesis on his back, screaming for help, and genuinely worried, he would have laughed.

After Kuma leaves Thriller Bark, the crew is left trying to heal and to pick up the broken pieces of their first-mate. Post Thriller Bark mainly from Sanji and Nami’s POV. Later chapters include additional adventures and Zoro POV.
