Izuku had heard the fairytale, about the Immortal Prince.
Shouto Todoroki, the dashing and beautiful prince, is Immortal, and cursed to never find true, beating love, for if he does he will regain his mortality and die. But with his kingdom burned to the ground, he goes against his father's wishes and searches to find the fatal consequence of his Immortality.
Izuku Midoriya, as a boy and then as a young knight, dreams of becoming that 'true love' of the prince's, even though it is only a fairytale.
It is unexpected when he does encounter Shouto, in a distant meadow pasture, his dream having come true... but dead and as a ghost, Izuku thinks there is no chance.
Shouto can't even see him. But Shouto, without Izuku knowing, can hear a lovely voice that travels beside him.
