Summary
She looks into Vespa’s eyes, now, just for a second, but that’s all she needs. “Darling, I’ve never wished we could have met in more typical circumstances. I wouldn’t trade the seven years we had, nor our family now, for anything in the galaxy. But now, given the choice… I’d rather like to lead a peaceful life with you, if you’ll have me.”

Summary
The Rangian girl shrugs. She's moved a little closer, now, and Buddy can see that underneath the mud, she's got on black overalls that are a little too big for her. Her hair is dyed bright green, just a little faded, like the moss growing in the rings of the tree stump that Buddy's made her temporary home. "Whatever. You're not from here."
or; Buddy wants nothing less than to spend a month on some swampy Outer Rim planet with her father. Fortunately, the company isn't bad.

Buddy’s hand is gentle in her hair, perfectly-shaped nails running through her freshly-shaved undercut, dancing along her scalp.

Summary
She forces herself to meet Buddy's eyes. Tries her best to temper her voice, to not sound angry, or scared, or whatever. "Bud, hey- is everything okay?"
Buddy takes a step back and sags against the now-closed door to the hangar. She covers the bare side of her face with her hand, scratches her nails down her skin. As Vespa hops down from her perch, she hears Buddy mutter something that sounds an awful lot like, "I don't know how many times my poor heart can take this."
(Vespa and Buddy's beautiful reunion doesn't go quite as planned.)

Summary
Getting distracted by her partner was a rookie move, and Vespa Ilkay knew it. However, the part of her that was best at dragging her gaze kicking and screaming away from Buddy Aurinko heists had to admit that there were excuses to be made when Buddy was twirling one of Vespa’s knives in hand.
At the very least, there was no pressure that afternoon. It was more of a casual suggestion of heist preparation than any kind of serious practice. Between that and the way Buddy’s grin glowed back at her twice, once from the reflection in the blade and once from between wine red lips, Vespa was pretty sure she wouldn’t ever be able to shoot Buddy’s blaster straight either.
Rec fill for @navyblueart and vaguely connected to my last fic, The Way You Hold Your Knife (just a one-sentence mention though I actually wrote this one first lmao)

Summary
Buddy Aurinko prided herself on her ability to adapt to any situation. It was part of what kept her alive for 50 years, and at the top of her criminal career for 30. It was how she’d escaped and thrived in prisons and parties alike, and it’s how she’d met Vespa. If someone tells you a secret, pretend you didn’t already know it. If someone thinks they know you, don’t call their bluff. If someone comes at you with a knife because you stole her wallet and heart, you win before you’re forced to give them back.
But back then it was as true as it is now, that Vespa Ilkay was the ultimate weakness to that ability. All that time, and Vespa had never once adapted for anyone, never changed because the situation demanded she be someone else, someone more. Vespa looked you in the eye and demanded you take her as she is, or else you’d regret it. Buddy had built her empire on bullshit, and Vespa had built hers on not leaving room for anything of the kind.
