Will swallowed loudly, Boris stepping forward to look closer. “According to her, this one—” Boris motioned to a line between Will’s index and middle finger. “Is your heart line, it shows me your emotions. For you, it’s long, deep and curving up; not broken.”
Boris was smiling again, thumbing the line lightly. “It means you are sensitive, and emotional.” Boris licked his lips, eyes flicking upward to look at Will. “Devoted.”

It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.

Now that Will’s sitting and Mike’s the one that’s standing, he looks impossibly tall. Tall and lanky, and huge. He should sit back down, Will thinks, lay back down next to Will and stay in their own secluded little bubble.
“I really want to kiss you,” Mike says, and Will’s eyes snap back up to his so violently he thinks he hears his own neck crack with the force of it.
“Don’t,” Will croaks, before his brain has even processed the words. “Don’t say that.”
“Okay,” Mike says easily, still staring. And what the actual fuck is going on? Is Will hallucinating? Is the weed making him hallucinate? “So sausage and pepperoni?”
Will stares dumbly at him. “Um - yeah. Yes.”
“Cool,” Mike replies and then just turns around and leaves Will sitting dumbly in his own room.

Desperate to hold onto this feeling of being understood and seen, Will feels willing to risk everything, even his life.

I don’t want to be alone anymore.
Perhaps it was a little naive to believe in the stories and folktales of the Goddess granting mortals wishes. Perhaps it was a little dangerous to put faith into a being he had no proof existed. Perhaps he was putting too much faith in his own magical prowess. Perhaps it was almost selfish to accept such a gift.
Perhaps all of this was true, but something deep in Tsukasa’s heart believed he was meant to meet this boy, whether he was created by his deep unspoken desires and the Goddess’s blessing or not. None of that mattered right now, not when everything about his life could change right at this moment.
Or,
Tsukasa is given a gift worth much more than just a bouquet of lilies.
